Rami is infamous around these parts
Had the Europipe Stage II loud on my 996 turbo cab, later upgrade to the Europipe Model 800 (REALLY loud but awesome)
On my 997 turbo coupé I also have a Europipe exhaust which is simply perfect for me. I can't imagine a better alternative to be honest. They have created a really specific sound with their setup. Bottomline: Europipe 100%

Your idea is super, but nearly impossible. Maybe with AWE, something available in the states. I'm not sure why these exhaust system companies, with all the audio equipment available, cannot provide a prospect buyer a better sound track from inside the car. Inside the car is what really matters. And if you buy one and install it, what a pain to take it off and return it if it sounds like crap. I guess some places won't even accept returns. That's taking a big chance for a $5-6K investment.

I wouldn't think nearly impossible on the two coasts - there should be lots of members of this community (and others) who would be more than willing to meet and let someone listen to their exhaust system. Good audio equipment can do a lot of things in this day and age...but I wouldn't buy a high end audio system based on a sound clip - just too many variables (including my ears). No easy solution.
