Purchasing advise: TT/Gallardo/R8/360
You are the first post I have ever seen on these boards who did not see a major difference between a base 911 & a TT. I drove a base 06 911 for 2 years, and bought a TT last month. On the first 1 mile of the test drive I knew I had wasted the past 2 years.
It would be foolish to spend the money on a TT if you do not appreciate it.

If you are not going to help, please do not reply. Most of your comments are very negative. You dont even own a TT, why are you even replying to my thread?
Having a budget of 140k is reasonable. Im sure when you purchased your 911, you did not want to spend over a certain amount of money.
140k is enough to get me a 360 , TT or TT cab, and maybe even a Gallardo. I want my car to be driven, not a garage queen.

and im not trying to sound negative, im just trying to be real with you but if you don't want to listen to advice then **** off and dont make this worthless thread have fun getting yourself into a hole like a lot of other people that hop into the first car they see...let me guess you are getting the car through a 144 month finance program right? lol
04 Gallardos had initial teething problems. 05 were better, and 06 thru current are best yet, as they got shorter gears, more power, front end lift and stronger clutches. 04 are fine as long as the newer clutch version is installed. Just watch out as these cars depreciate by the mile.
If you really want a G, I'd advise you to wait until late summer when the new model hits showrooms and prices of the 04-08 Gs fall.

using the F word is totally unnecessary.

I love the 911 but I really dont know if its worth the extra 40k.
The porsche dealer offered me 120k for a black/black TT, and 143k for a TT

I think Im going to look at the 06 Gallardo for 146k soon.

thx for the advise. I didnt know replacing the clutch would cost 10k-12k
I drove the TT for 30 mins. the S for 15 mins.
Both cars are fast,I could feel the turbo kicking in for the TT. However, Both cars feel unstable turning at 70mph as if the car could have spinned out of control.
Im leaning towards getting a non S cab for 70k and save the money to get a gallardo in a year. How does this sound?
How much discount can I get on a preowned/new , NON S cab, S cab, TT coupe and TT cab?

Having a nice car to trade up from will help people differentiate you from a
dreamer.

See my post at the bottom of page 2
And the repair can take several weeks . . . Or worse.
UNSOLICITED ADVICE: If you don't like the way someone responds to you in here, just ignore them. Pissing matches don't help anyone.
Good luck. Owning a Lambo is one of my dreams as well. But it will be Ferrari first for me.

Hi Barrister,
Which Ferrari would you like to own, and why? I want a Lambo but my friends keep telling me I should stay with Ferrari because it has better resale value. I told them, buying a car is very personal preference, I choose the car because I like it, not because of resale. They would then counter, "If you were a millionaire then you don't have to worry about resale value!"

If you want to drive 8-10K per year, I would stay with the Germans. I am in a similar position to you - looking for a fun weekender, so have been weighing the options as well. Have you looked at 996 GT2s or 996/997 GT3s? Probably worth driving an M6 also - not nearly as nimble, but the vert is pretty fun...
Clutch replacement on a G costs about $5K-$6K, not $10-$12. E-gear clutches wear out around 6000 miles; manual clutches last a little longer.
If you want to drive around 10,000 miles per year with a lambo or ferrari, plan on keeping the car for a long time because they will depreciate so much that you won't be able to sell the car, especially a ferrari. Plus the maintenance costs will ready add up if you stack on that many miles.

Funny how aspirations can change so quickly...and how much they can vary from place to place...in Australia( and possibly US ?) property prices are so high, that fore many people owning your own home means you're a millionaire...but does that mean you can afford or are happy to flush money down the drain....
