Pics & Review of My Bilstein PSS10 Lowered Red Turbo
I recently test drove dual clutched Ferrari California and Porsche 991 ("real" test drive, not just a quickie) and love both, but still decided that Turbo is "better," all things considered. Starting with the manual gear box.I am quite busy with business/kids but still do check out this forum once in a while. How are you and what car did you replace the Turbo with?
Hi Chris, no I think my Turbo baby and me are wedded for life - the affection is true and deep.

Here's some pics in this thread I posted when I first got the car.

Chris, congratulations! Your dedication is impressive and the car is something else! I am jealous.
Timccloud, thanks. Another shot of my baby .
For photographers among us: shot in RAW, developed with Capture One, camera is Canon 1D, lens Canon 85mm f/1.2, location: winding roads of South Bay area of Los Angeles - this switchback is actually only 2 minutes from my house (yeah!). I normally tripod these shots but not here because I was afraid some crazy driver testing his car might run me over, standing in the middle of the road and all

The Bilstein B16, both Damptronic and PSS10 versions, has internal bump stops. The only time these bump stops have made "news" is if you lower the car too much, say beyond the recommended 25mm/35mm, you could hit the internal bump stops. This of courses could be a dangerous and/or uncomfortable situation at high speed.
No one that I know of has tried to modified these internal bump stops, like making them shorter or anything like that. May I ask why you're asking about the bump stops?

thanks! I thought I had seen a couple of odd pics of the Bilsteins with an external bumpstop fitted and was a bit surprised at that. Recently acquired a 2008 C2 Cab and found it was fitted with PSS10s so been searching around for more details and settings on them to set the car up. Came across this very useful thread so forgive the intrusion of a non turbo driver. When I used to build and run forest rally cars (see below) waaay back i always ran bilsteins and they used external bumpstops as well as any internal ones. BTW, how many here can recognize the driver on the left (me on the right) who went on to become World rally champ....

Of course it is not an intrusion and glad I could be of help. But you sound like you're a seasoned veteran already so I don't know if there is anything I could add. You probably has the B16 Damptronic (with electronic damper control - PASM) version so really there is not much to set up other than deciding on the ride height (as mentioned don't lower more than 25mm or so from stock) and your alignment setting. If you have the B16 PSS10 (non PASM) then sorry I don't have any experience with the damper setting, other than knowing that it's 10 settings for bump and rebound, coupled together (not independent), and 10 is the one with the highest dampening factors. Anyone please correct as needed.

No, it is not Rohrl, it is actually Colin Macrae, who was in the same car club. Picture from 1986. He never drove a pcar in competition although he did finish 3rd at Le mans in a ferrari....
I had the privilege of riding beside him ( in my car
) when we were giving rides in our rally cars on a stage for a charity event.
Hi Cannga,
I've been reading through this incredibly informative post. I'm considering doing a bunch of the stuff that you did on your car. I also live in Los Angeles, and am looking for a reputable tuner to do the mods. It seems that Lucent Motors is out of business, or at least their web page and phone number don't work anymore. Do you have any suggestions for another shop in the LA area? (I live in Hollywood).

Lucent is also a GIAC dealer I believe, so if you are interested in an ECU mode, ask him about it. The advantage of being in LA is that you might be able to convince GIAC to do a custom tune for you, instead of just the generic one. This means they'll bring your car to GIAC shop and tune it on the dyno; IMHO a huge advantage over the generic tune and we are lucky to have it because GIAC is local.
Good luck and have fun. The Bilstein Damptronic will absolutely TRANSFORM your car.
