The benefits of the GIAC Flashloader system and ...
The only problem is that GIAC does not let the user adjust any of the parameters like Revo does. I can fine tune my car to any environment or situation. This has allowed me to get the most out of my cars performance and the Revo flash. For $2600 I think it is a great buy. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

Besides taking the car in for service at the dealership, there's no reason whatsoever to go back to the stock program. You can drive the car like a little old lady on a Sunday drive, or press the Sport mode button to see what it feels like in a rocket.
I only live about 2 miles from work. Plenty of times I refuel the car and reset the trip in the PCM with an average recorded speed of 16 to 17 MPH, but on the highway it still leaps from 80 to 120 MPH in a few seconds.
When I got the car there was a noticeable lag when the accelerator was mashed to the floor. With the pump gas program, the lag is gone and the car instantly roars with acceleration.
Hi Robert (we've met I think, I was checking out Anthony's Cargraphic at the Irvine C&C),
Would you please give an example so I could understand better?
1. What situation necessitates a fine tune?
2. What exactly are the parameters that you fine tune?
3. If I am to change parameters myself, I am afraid that there would be harm that I don't know enough to know. Valid concern?
I am completely new to ECU tuning and in investigative phase. Unlikely to ever use anything more than 91 octane. Thanks in advance.

The GIAC switcher is so easy to use, once you try the race gas, you will be hooked. There are many places you can get access to race gas, its addicting. I thought I would never switch but after the first time, it transforms the car. Nite and Day diffence. GIAC is the way to go, they have done all the work so you won't need to worry about a thing.
Can - If the only reason you might consider the flashloader is because you think you may need it for everyday traffic/street driving, forget it. I have the GIAC flash without the flashloader - only the 93 octane program. I spend much more time in traffic or in areas that it is "wasted" than when I can really appreciate it. During these times I would never know I had the flash. The car just responds like a non-flash car. When I get a chance to open it up - holy sh*t. As far as reliability goes, I know of four Porsche forums and people post if their car has the hiccups. I have yet to see a post where a GIAC flash has caused a problem.
Take a look at this PDF file from Revo. It states all of the parameters that are available to the user. If you do not have experience with engine management, I would go with one of the stock files.

My custom Revo file with race gas allows me to spank the competition with equal or more mods than I currently have installed.

IMHO, most of the Flash programs are good. I just like Revo because I can play around with the custom race gas file.

Also, Anthony has a Proto modded (ECU Flash) car with Cargraphics exhaust. <O

I'm just now seeing this thread and to answer your question, this makes perfect sense. I love the use of the video in your thread. I was looking at this stuff a little while back but I'm not ready to buy. I had a bunch of questions about whether I could do it, but seeing the video made all of those little questions I probably wouldn't have come out and asked, go away. So thank for putting that together.
I don't know if I speak for everyone here, but I for one, get kind of nervous about modding a car. When you take the time to show how it works, it really opens the wallet. Thanks for taking the time, and I hope your business goes well.
personally, I totally love the idea of having a car that I can drive on the street and on the track. The concept of having a switch in the car to have a street mode, a race mode, and a valet mode is pretty sweet.

Appreciate the kind words. We are glad that helped answer some questions.
If at any time you have a questions, post it up here, or shoot me an email.

Wow I have been doing this for some time now and I'm still learning the depth and complexity of a "tune"
Veriety is always good and Robert has shown that he made good use of his hands-on tunability. However 95% of us are not going to attempt to self- tune. This leaves a large market for reliable, high tech. tuning options. I have always used GIAC as they have been the benchmark for years and supported thier customers well. Also they have provided updates and re-maps if for example new hardware comes out on a particular kit. This tells me that they don't just create a file and shelf it, or want cars not running correctly with too many changes (hardware).
That said, when you scratch the surface and see how years of experience, pioneering and different levels of execution come into play it stands out what benefits there are.
In short I would say there are many good tuners out there. Many that I personally know and respect. Still there more GIAC P-cars and GIAC venders here for more than just one reason.
This is my experiance and opinion.

Thank you. I read the attachment from Revo that you posted, fascinating.
1. I thought GIAC is the only company to have Flashloader type device (like I said, I'm a noob) but it seems Revo has one that works on the same principle?
2. I so far have concentrated on what appear to be the big 2 companies, GIAC and EVOM, but have not heard of Revo. Another reputable company that has been doing this a long time?
3. It seems the Revo switcher allow even more tailored setting of parameters than GIAC?

Either way, the problem was identified pretty quickly and fixed.
Hi Jason - Check post 29 within this thread. Explains this problem.
