Exhaust or ECU upgrade?

If I only have enough $ to do one or the other, what's the recommendation and why? The Ti exhausts are quite tempting, however. While there are a number of dyno charts available on the web, virtually all comparisons are with more than one variable changed. That is, I can't find dyno charts that directly compare ECU upgrade vs stock and exhaust upgrade vs stock keeping octane and all other variables the same.

If you only have enough money for one or the other, why are you thinking titanium? Save your pennies, get both.

get the exhaust, I would not bother with the ecu at this time. With an exhaust you'll have 500 hp easy. I have a chip, it is fast, but it's the one mod I wouldn't do again

Go with the exhaust first, learn the car, and then do the ecu. The sound always puts a smile on my face when I first fire her up.

Just did ecu last week. What an improvement!! Exhaust goes on this week, can't wait to check it out! The ecu woke the car up. I was actually disappointed with the car and considering moving on. Glad I didn't!!

Exhaust.

ECU you are compromising your warranty more. The exhaust wont match up with the oompf a ECU will get you, but it will change your everyday drive because it'll completely change the sound of your car. Makes the car a bit more distinct and improves the overall experience.

Getting a fabspeed exhaust put on myself no plans for an ECU tune, maybe just headers sometime later on.

Go for the ECU, if you want more power.

IMHO it's not worth losing your engine warranty for an extra 50 HP over an exhaust. Mind you it is a lot faster, it's you're decision. Just make sure you go to a reputable tuner.

Do the exhaust first, get a few more HP/TQ and enjoy learning the car. If you have any emission related CELs your warranty won't cover it (I speak from experience). The new sound will put a smile on your face. After you put some miles on and or warranty expires add a new ECU flash - if you do this before warranty you usually can kiss your warranty good bye. I had CELs (with a major after market company - no complaint here!) and put bung extensions on, and now no problem (it can happen, no worries and an easy fix). If you are watching your budget go slow and get only reputable upgrades (lots of good advice re companies on this forum)
That's my 2 cents.
K.

You're right. It's a case where your appetite is bigger than your stomach. Anyhow, the weight savings appears only to be 8 lbs, which makes me wonder what percent Ti is present overall. Doesn't seem worth the extra price.

the 8 lbs is for a GT2 exhaust, not vs a stock turbo exhaust. much greater weight savings vs stock turbo exhaust, but i would not spend the extra money vs a new ss exhaust.
