ChadC is infamous around these parts
Just put the Fabspeed on my cab this week. It sounds GREAT! Not as noticable of power change as the ECU though. Both are great mods. Have fun.

I got a dry day today and took the car out for a spin. It sounds good but there is a bit of a drone between 2200 and 2700-2800 rpms. It is tolerable with windows up or down. Very throaty exhaust at low rpms and quieter at higher revs. Ran into a boost problem that I need to solve. I am only getting about 7 psi before the turbos blow off.

I assume your exhaust is FS 3rd generation? Sorry to hear about your boost problem. Did you contact FS? They're usually very helpful. Repost as a separate thread. Your bound to get some suggestions. Best wishes.

Are you saying you are only getting 7 psi boost? That is very low, switch over to Bar and get that number too. You must have a loose boost hose or something. I would go over the entire install and double dog check everything.

I think he changed the intake too, I'd check that for sure. Sounds like a leak on the intake side of the system.
Also check the clamps btwn the cats and the rest of the system, those will loosen on FS and drone. You'll need to switch to oem 996 c4s clamps to solve the problem.

TT Surgeon and everyone else. I removed and reinstalled the intake system. That solved the boost problem. I am not sure where the leak was because all the clamps were tight but I suspect it was at the rubber boot where the Y pipe connects to the throttle body. As you know the clearances at this joint on the bottom are tight and it may have been that the rubber boot was not properly alighed on the bottom of the Y pipe. The Y also connects at a slight angle. I took extra care in reinstalling this connection.

Thanks to everyone for ideas and suggestions. Special thanks to TT Surgeon who helped me with a number of facets related to the mods.

THE one mod!

While this is a BMW, I think this video captures the thrill of driving that comes with upgraded suspension. Exhaust or suspension first, ECU later (TT already has good power)

Any chance you can do the ECU and revert back to stock before taking to the dealer? Or can the tech scan and eventually find out?

You really need to do a search. This has been beat so far to death, that the carcass is begging for mercy.

IMHO, Exhaust first, you can hear it, touch it & feel it (the power). It will change up the characteristics when you drive more than the chip alone. Chip should be done close to last as it will bring everything together, the MC.

Exhaust, only after a year or so should one consider the ECU since you wouldnt really know what the improvement was and be more satisfied.
