7 seconds.
100 more pages anyone?
I know some people may have given up on the TT thread, but here is yet another same day trouncing of the GT-R, this time by the GT2. A wet track even benefited the GT-R's AWD and better wet tires vs MPSC of the GT2.
Most importantly from my point of view is what the GT2 did to the GT-R on the back straight. Which is RAPE it. Just like the ZR-1, which happens to have still nearly matched the GT2 even with a headwind, should have done, but didnt to Nissan factory ring car.
We now have:
Aichnter 7:54
Harris 7:55
Suarma 7:50
Walter and some other guys 7:45 +
and Nissan
7:29
Getting harder and harder to justify that 7:29 when you keep stacking guys who can drive saying no chance it went that fast.

from a previous post, linear regression showing actual ring performance vs expected performance (based on power/weight ratio). GTR which falls over 2 deviations outside the expected performance.

Amazingly (no not really) Nissan's GT-R is around 1.3 seconds faster over the same time period from the first sign to the second and that cannot be attributed to exit speed. 1.3 seconds at an average speed 153 mph for the GT-R is a HUGE difference.

Exactly, it's getting easier to make a cheaper fast car these days, but as we see with the Z06 and GT-R, you still get what you pay for. GM still hasnt gotten the tranny right on the Z06.

That article was a great read, and seemed actually unbiased. It showed the good sides of the GT-R - more speed through alot of the corners, some favorable comments about its stability, and more. And it showed that in the end physics still exists, even in Japan, and large differences in power/weight still really, really matter.
The '08 and newer Z06s shift very easily. I don't know if that was the tranny issue that you mentioned, HC? The clutch is a bit unforgiving in that it grabs so quickly, but shifting is pretty slick.

The Z06's tranny's have been going bad too. Many people have been having problems with some being recalled. And even more people report sounds and notchy shifting, some of which end up with blown trannys. And then there's the needle bearing issue.
The Z06 has all the potential in the world, it's just not built to last, from the brakes, to people still have a little more than occasional motor failures, to the crappy tires.
If they JUST fixed those things and made them reliable, the Z06 would be a serious beast.

True.....never really considered the GTR a threat to the GT2 though

So the GT-R is less than 1% slower than a GT2 but 50% cheaper? I would never trade my 997TT for a GTR but I am also realistic. Dollar for dollar there is no comparison.
Well there is that tranny issue in the GTR but still its one hell of car for the dollar. Ugly but fast.

The ACR is 55% cheaper and smokes them all. Similar for the ZR-1.
The Z06 is still the best performance bargain.
Luckily there are enough car fanatics that refuse to agree on anything to buy enough of all of them.
