Does this ever happen to you?
Type 1 driver --
You're driving down the highway and all of a sudden a vehicle floors it past you . You look at the road and it's congested . Even worse the car itself is the LEAST likely that one might imagine . A Honda Pilot , A Caliber ? , a Suburban , and a varied assorment of pickup trucks , a Camry , a Tercel , even a minivan here or there (mostly Honda ) .
What are they trying to prove?
Then there's type 2 driver-
who sees the car and sits in the lane beside you . The problem is you want to get in that lane . You slow down . he slows down . You speed up , He speeds up . He's looking at your car . In order to get in the lane one either has to sprint or crawl into the lane .
Then there's type 3 --
I call him the "lets see YOU go fast" voyeur . In other words he pulls up beside you and signals YOU to go fast while he watches . What am I his highway entertainent? Ignore him and one gets the face
. He's confused that he can't control someone elses driving .
I find these circumstances differ with the 997tt as compared to driving one of my other cars so I ask .. does any of this happen to you?

I see that you are in South Florida . Maybe it's just a regional thing . Or maybe the tourists have been enjoying the nice weather and decided to test out the rental vehicles .

If you don't want a stylish car / attention , I can suggest some moderate fast cars:
dodge neon SRT-4 with mods
civic with turbo
mercedes, pick your flavor many come with 500 hp
( fill in blank here with car of choice that looks like **** and has turbo kits ____________ )
you bought a car that most cannot afford, attention comes with the territory.

I'm going to go from my 911 to a civic with a turbo....right.

Here is a totally different story, drive an Escalade or anything black and REALLY BIG, people will never ever cut in the lane in front of you. I was driving my 911 and man, no one seems to give a thing about it.
I have a Civic Si too as well as an 08 M3 . When I drive the Si the reaction is different . The Honda Pilot or Camry owners seem to drive more appropriately.
When driving the Si it's the street racer criwd (who normally ignore the 997tt) who tend to drive as if egged on by a challenge. Maybe they think they can attain a victory agaisnt another Si but know they can't with a 997tt.
The odd thing with the 997tt is that compared to the Honda Si the people who know they can't win seem to try and beat the 997tt . Why else would a Suburban floor it next to a 997 Turbo ? Or maybe they assume that because one has such a car he's always fast driving rather than enjoying a leisure drive and respecting the proper highway safety laws .

Happens here in the Mid Atlantic area all the time too. The other one I hate is when someone comes flying up beside you to take a picture or to stare at the car and they start to drift too close or into your lane. The Viper gets this all the time.
There may be some regional biases here but in LA we see type 1 drivers all the time, those that are compelled to get ahead, no matter what type of car you're driving or the traffic. We also see other types too that must be a local phenomenon. Besides people putting on make-up and doing their hair, which is quite common, I've seen wardrobe changes, heads bobbing up and down, and even the horizontal mambo if you know what I mean. It must be the wild west.
