Racing Exhaust question
Racing Exhaust question
will the aftermarket racing exhaust result in a Check Engine Light since they dont have cat's? if so, will an aftermarket ECU upgrade fix it or is it unneccessary?
Yes it will but you can get o2 bungs/extention for about 10 bucks, it will fix the CEL. For Tubi Race exhaust, you won't get the CEL, with most others, such as FVD will set the CEL off, but again the o2 bungs will fix that.
Hey Gmoney, so I've read, I don;t have hands on experience with them. 4th post.

interesting, a friend with an 09 installed one and it threw a CEL, he swapped it out for a non race version, this was a few weeks ago also, recent.

Don't take this the wrong way but not all exhausts with out cats and I have sold a few Tubi Races already without a single CEL come on. So I think its safe to say that it depends on your car. I think certain 997TT's are more sensitive than others when it comes to race systems. Either way our brand of choice "APR" does have cat-delete software if you chose to run a race system and it does happen throw a CEL light. So if by chance that it does your still ok. However if your local dealer or inspection station does a physical check for cats and doesn't see any they probably will fail you.
