and the Turbo sits resting
I love my Turbo . I am commited to this car for the long run and just looking at it places a smile on my face . This car is so special to the core.
Yet I am having a fling with another Porsche ... the new PDK 997.2 which has become my daily driver . Having both cars actually heightens this state of Porsche driving bliss .
The the good old Turbo .. reliable , faster than rocket, loaded up with it's own special items which took months of planning . I will never forget this car . That's why i am not only keeping it .. I want to enshrine it as it has captured this very special place in my heart.
But .. what about the PDK 997.2 ? Well . it's different . it takes me to driving levels which are new and exciting , and treats me differently than the Turbo . I drive it more and worry less . I take it to places where my Turbo would never go in fear of a ding . It's more casual and impersonal .. it's just fun . In fact there's not even a low front lip to scrape .
My girlfriend even wants to drive it and I am thrilled about that. With my Turbo I prefer that no one drives it and most who know me realize what the car means to me and don't even ask . I savor every mile , and cherish every moment in the Turbo but with the PDK car I become less inhibited .
Having both of thse cars is like driving sensory overload and in many ways even though I wrote a lot sometimes I look at them and am left speechless.

Hi,
great looking car, what a great position to be in having both available in your garage. The PDK gearbox is super smooth but how are you getting on with the counter intuitive buttons ?.
Rgds.

Hey Larry is there anything on your PDK that let you know when the alarm is on beside the light flashing twice .I did not read the manual ,I know on my Cayenne you can make the horn chirp when you lock the door ,but I can't seem to do it on my 09 997.2 .

I love the buttons . I have done many write up impressions of PDK in the 997 forum the gist of which details the massive amount of choices a driver has . The car can be driven like a basic automatic OR it can also be driven like a race car and that huge disparity gives a tremdous range of selections . The shifts are faster . more precise, and not only will they factor out driver error but it even will ignore a request which woild cause a money shift. It is truly an amazing work .
I am glad you like the PDK system. For lower power applications, it seems like a great solution. I am still not convinced the transmission will handle higher powered engines, although Gembella is selling the new avalanche with the current turbo engine.
Less worry . It has no lip to scrape . it's narrow body won't ding as easily, in gridlock traffic one can place it in automatic mode and trod along with all the other automatics , yet throw the car into manual and it will blow the doors off the time it takes to shift gears . It is not faster thana Turbo but it is pretty damn fast. Plus the DFI engine gives an immediate response . Look at this car go against a stock 996 Turbo tip . look how it takes off at 10 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5BVmaU-Vvo
how is the "sound" of the DFI engine? is the new engine "wet" or "dry" sump? the front suspension has been retuned to diminish the "hop" @ steep turn in; have you noticed a difference? with DFI (engine sound slightly muted), PDK, and suspension retuned (thou handles more predictable) one complaint was less driver involvement, less "porsche"; have you noticed this? as a side note; are those HRE Comp 90series wheels on your tt?
enjoy them both driving to "nowhere"!
Yup, I do the same with my new Audi RS6. That 5L V10 twin turbo super smooth 580bhp engine with auto/flappy paddle gearbox and tonnes of gadgets has made my Turbo very much a special occasion only car now. The RS6 is the daily car. Nobody else is allowed to drive the Turbo and will be my keeper for many many years!
