Torque Loss
Torque Loss
I recently installed an aftermarket exhaust and had my ECU reflashed for a Stage II tune. I am now constantly pulling 15psi with overboost to 17. I am having a hard time in the city with WOT due to the additional HP and Boost. However, I feel as though the pull, torque and "seat of the pants" feeling has been lost when compared to a stage I tune and OME exhaust. Any thoughts or is it me adjusting to the car modifications.

I understand the DME does have some "learning/adaptation" period, how long this period is, I don't know, but supposedly it becomes more powerful as time goes on. (Anyone corrects me as neeeded.)
Doesn't APR allow you to switch back and forth between stock and tuned status? Have you done the comparison?

Hi Matthew, thanks for the info. Do you know exactly what it is that the ECU is "adapting" to and is 100-200 miles the "official" number as observed by the pro's?
Mine seems to take less than that but there is no way for me to tell for sure, since "butt dyno" is so unreliable.

Cannga,
I always tell people that after they do a significant change to the car such as exhaust, ECU, or intercoolers and etc that to allow atleast a full tank of gas and or 500 miles for the ECU to learn the changes. You may notice changes right away and some cars might take a little longer. It all depends on the ECU. Just like some cars adapt to new TPMS sensors faster than others. I've reset some 997tt's before I even go around the block and some I need to drive for 15 minutes. Its a stupid analogy but it just goes to show some learn quicker than others.
