Okay, back in the office, so I can look into this.

As to the above, thanks Gerry. I do believe, however, that this is the first article ever to run in Excellence about an Oakley car. Truth be told, I am always wary of new tuners. However, Ian Kuah has had a good eye for the good ones in years past, so I tend to trust his judgement in such matters.

All that said, if Oakley hasn't taken care of its customers, and said customers are Excellence readers, I'd sure appreciate a letter (hard copy) from them. These can be mailed to:

Emails and forum chatter, while valid and a good early warning, aren't enough for us to intervene on a reader's behalf for a variety of reasons. So we need to hear, first hand, from those who are affected.

In the meantime, I'll be notifying both the author and the publisher, as well as our ad director, of the situation. Hopefully, the accusations are just that — and/or the company in question will step up to make things right.

However, I've been down this road before...so we'll see.

Thanks,

pete

A respectable offer, however, you really need to post a new thread with the title describing what you are doing. 6Speed and RennList both. And if you really want to be aggressive, Pistonheads as well.

This is a fine opportunity for investigative journalism. And if/when the scam is further documented, a public naming and shaming article is in order. And hopefully leads to some serious jail time for the crooks.

Evil grows when good people do nothing. Yes?

Hmmm, I think i posted earlier in this thread, and I have to say things are getting pretty interesting. On here, it seems the concensus is that Jon Oakley is an experienced scammer and it's not an isolated incident by any means.

On the other hand, I have a friend on another forum who is designing the new Panamera kit for Oakley and is insistent that Jon Oakley is an honest man. From the sheer number of victims on this site I can only fear that my friend is being used :/
I'll talk to him again and try to get Jon to post a reply on here if i can, but it's a long shot.

Mcflurry,
Definitely all you can do for your friend is tell him to be cautiously optimistic at this point. I think it's been proven that Oakley's products are high quality and work. Unfortunately this is more about his business practices of not fulfilling obligations and seemingly to disappear without further communication with his clients. Good luck to your friend, I sincerely hope he isn't played as a pawn.

I have note read through all the thread but it is quite unfortunate that things like these happen. From close friends in the Porsche Supercup world who dealt closely with them to test and market their products (ex. Sean Edwards and Franz Konrad's team manager) these are good guys, but good people can turn bad What I do know for a fact is that the (good quality) sequential shifter and most other parts they sell are not made by them, shifter is made by cartronic.

J.Oakley is known as Joke-ley in the UK. He scammed someone I know about a racing event, friend had arranged to race the car but Jokeley told him it had been crashed so couldn't compete (cost him $$$$ for sponsors/tickets etc). Unfortunately a European contact saw the exact same car race elsewhere on that weekend. All lies.

ALL Oakley products are re-sale of other peoples stuff. All their carbon is made by Reverie here in the UK who do loads of carbon work.

http://www.reverie.ltd.uk/porsche911997.php

Their demo car was never owned by them either, was a customer car.

The phone number listed in the emails shown here are for a UK cell-phone number (+44 is UK and all UK mobiles start with 07). Would you deal with someone who cannot process credit cards and only has a cell-phone number???

The Thread has been removed from Pistonheads... to give you some idea Oakley Design advertised it's products on a Panamera with Police Livery... let's say nothing is official, there is also some question into the Police vehicle (illegal Police vehicle) driving on public roads in the UK... if true, someone could find themselves in very, very hot water!

BTW... Mr Matt Jones in this video (Performance Direct) doesn't seem exist.

Pete,

Thank you for responding so quick to this. I understand sometimes it's difficult to perform the due diligence necessary. This is how some of us got into this situation! On principal, I am willing to pursue this as far as it needs to go. Unfortunately, there are a lot of "Jon Oakleys" in this industry. But if we need to take them out one at a time to set an example, then so be it.

I will have my tuner Evosport Inc. draft up a letter to you since they made the purchase on my behalf. Most, if not all of us are avid readers of Excellence. And for those who are not, well they are now!

Happy Holidays.

jon oakley

Hi , everyone. I have been reading the posts here and I have a question.
Those of you who have parted with money for parts or any other services from Jon Oakley and have not received them should report to the police/ law enforcement.
An upto date web address for jon Oakley would be jon@oakleydesign.eu
In order for the police to act they will not see a serious pattern until many people come forward with reported crimes and crime numbers.

I see this is an old thread, just wanted to see who is still reading.

Just read the whole thread and Jon Oakley is definitely off of my list entirely. I do hope that those who got burned heed your advice and report it.

thank you

thank you 512bb.
I would encourage anyone who has issues to report to law enforcement and obtain a crime number. If anyone is unsure of the process please post and I will advise.
Spread the word, that way others don't get caught.
