fabspeed headers
fabspeed headers
Curious as to how the fabspeed headers compares to the AWE and evoms and other aftermarket headers -out there?? Are they all similar to each other in terms breathing and flow characteristics.
No. Not at all.
My vote goes for the EVOMS headers. Each set of EVOMS headers is designed with a specific application in mind. Headers are not a "one size fits all" item. They've spent considerable R&D time to insure that their headers will maximize gains depending on the power levels of the car.

The reason I ask is because the 997TT stock headers are actually very well designed and flow quite well, much better than the 996TT's did. They are obviously a little heavier than aftermarket, but the aftermarket headers don't really seem to make much more power than the stock headers until you get into heavily modded stages where the stock ones become a bit restrictive and in a few cases actually LOST power in key RPM ranges. I'm going from memory, but I think I read that the stock ones are very good up until about the 700-750ish hp where they finally become a little restrictive. If you're stock or close to it, there's many other mods that will net net you more power for either the same or less money. I guess what I'm trying to say is there's many better "bang for the buck" options if you're looking to improve power. Now if you're looking to get a better or more throaty sound or have a heavily modded car or at least plan for it to become heavily modded, then headers may be nice. Good Luck!
let me ask you a few questions that may help you better achieve what you're looking to do. Then others can chime in with their experiences based on your answers.

can anyone comment to the increase of sound over stock, with aftermarket headers and otherwise OEM exhaust? I have exhaust right now, but don't like the drone, or how loud it is. Can I run aftermarket headers with OEM turbo back and retain the stock sound at partial throttle?
I can comment on how headers sound with stock mufflers, but combining headers with our aftermarket muffler did not create a sound change.
Remember that headers are before the turbo. The tubo acts somewhat like a muffler itself. Rarely will you hear a sound change from modifications before it. It's what is changed after the turbo (mufflers) that will play a role in volume and tone.
