997TT reliability?
Hi to everyone!
I have started looking for a 2006-2007 997TT and would like info on the reliability of these cars. I know Porsches are quite safe purchases compared to many other marques, and I have personal experience of a reliable 996TT, but what kind of problems can I potentially run into? Anything I should especially look at when buying?
Thanks for your info in advance!
Anyone happen to have a 997TT owners manual as pdf?

Hello Kip, I was like you for the last two to three months comming from an older porsche and looking for a 997tt. I read all the great info from this forum and did not really see any issues with the reliabiltiy of this car. I purchased one about a week and a half ago and could not be more thrilled. Also decided to join this forum so I could learn more (mods maybe). Good luck.

When I had 140 miles on the odometer one of wastegate actuators failed on my 3 days old TT. I believe it's an isolated case but it counts nonetheless. 2600 miles on it already and the car is great!
One little problem that needs to be fixed is a creaking K40 LED light in the dashboard. But that has nothing to do with Porsche AG.
Go buy it already! Color combo should be your biggest worry right now!

RMS is not an issue on the 997TT. Maybe for the GT3, GT3RS, but it is a rare problem on the turbos.
Here are the main weak points that affect 997TTs.
1. Clutch slave failure - not a surprise, since it is the same unit on the 996TT, and it too had problems.
2. VTG turbo actuators - TSB notice for lubrication or replacement of turbo units.
3. Rear quarter panel weld failure - TSB on this also...affected early 07 units with specific VINs.
4. There is a TSB on the fuel line for leaking, although I have not heard of any member or local area owner that has had the problem.

I am trying to decide between a 2007-08 TT coupe manual trans. and a 2009 PDK (S or C4S) for purchase in 2010, so the more info on this supplied by others the better for me in my quest. Thanks to all the contributors!

My '06 997 turbo has had the following failures fixed under warranty: 20,000 miles rear diff seals. 31,000 miles one turbo failed, Porsche would only replace the one which failed. Front radiator leaking, common fault.
33,000, Front pads on PCCB brakes are now shot but discs are good. Passenger seatbelt tensioner sticking and one horn not working.
