Last time I compared the TT with an M6 the difference was about 15-20 car lengths

"When you drive an M5 or an M6 its like its a living thing, but the porsche is soul less and just a fast car."

The argument is lost when you have to reach for "ethereal reasoning." lol

Having had both, i can concur that this is a false statement...i felt no connection to the m5, not a thing...the porsche on the other hand certainly involves the driver and sucks you into its heritage

Owned both too. M6 is not remotely the car that a 997TT is. Driveability, involvement, chassis feedback- no comparo.

Well, I put it this way; When I was ready to invest $300,000-$400,000 on a car (this is Finland folks ) M5/M6 wasn't even on my list. I got 911TT!

Weren't they supposed to do something about your taxes this year? My cousin (she lives in Swe) mentioned something about that last time I saw her...

Oh, and I also had an M5 prior to my 997TT. I won't go into the narrative part of it but all of the empirical evidence shows that people graduate from the M5/6 to 997tt, not so much the other way around!

for me its not even about the performance #'s. The weight difference alone would give some insight about the driving dynamics of these 2 cars.

its funny to see a m6 driver talking about soul. that car is a computer. its an overweight gt with a serious motor. i have access to both a 997tt and a m6, id take the turbo any day.

+1
Fantastic cars in their own right. Superb NA motor. Great highway cruiser. TT is another animal altogether. So much more visceral. To say it is soul-less is ridiculous.

Ok I kinda see where he's coming from, the 997TT is too refined for me, it doesn't have that raw feel or connection I love, ala GT3, Viper etc. However, saying the M5/6 has more soul???!? Sorry the 997TT is still heads and shoulders above either in feel, 5/6 feel like driving fast computers, the TT still wins in driver involvement. That was a ridiculous post on m5board.

I too came from an '07 M6 prior to my '08 997TT. No comparison. Although I liked the M6 for an NA car, the TT is in a different league by leaps and bounds.

I've had my 2009 TT cab for two months now. Coming off an M6 cab. Both six speeds. As great as the M6 was, the TT has it beat in almost every way, including looks in my opinion. I'd have to argue there's more soul in the TT. The only place the M6 wins hands down with a knockout is the sound of its engine/exhaust, especially at WOT with its high redline. I've had an M3, M5 and M6, all great cars, but stepping into the TT is just stepping into a different league. Now just have to wait until the end of next week to get my Tubi Street on, and maybe the TT wil get a bit closer on the sound side...
