Properly driving manual
Hello all,
I am anxiously awaiting delivery of my 08 TT - manual. Should be here this weekend barring no weather delays. Will provide picts later.
Anyways, I know this is a stupid question but could someone describe an optimal way to launch a manual from dead stop for best 0-60 and 1/4 mi performance? I won't be doing any drag races etc but just curious how to properly drive TT. I am planning to take some driving classes in the future as well.
I am used to driving Viper which obviously is quite different from the Porsche.
On a side note, I have never test driven manual TT but have driven C4s in manual.
Thank you in advance!

rev to about 4000 to 4500 rpms, use clutch to control wheelspin for split second after launch and FLOOR it. and try to enjoy yourself.
if you're on a public road just keep in your head, if you are approaching redline in 3rd you're near 100mph so be careful.

It takes practice to launch this 4 wheel drive car.
It takes a toll on your clutch so beware.
Its not the optimal car for 0 to 60 runs.
I rather do the 40 to 120 run.
Everytime I practice the lauch on my 6 sp I have this horrible clutch smell.
I am done with the launches on mine.

I hope so! I am sure it's going to be nothing like the Viper - I am hoping better experience but I am sure redline is going to come very quick with 997TT. I've had two turbo cars (Supra, 335) but both were auto's.
What you could consider doing after much practice is have a tuner incorporate a 1st gear rev limiter so you can keep your foot on the gas and do a two step launch. You'll have to decide with the current configuration of your car what RPM works best (and is least brutal on your clutch.)
