tough question
tough question
Now, opinion, knowledge or even best guess is appreciated...
I have 2008 techart turbo. I'm very very pleased of it, but I can't stop thinking about 2010tt. Well I bought mine less than a year ago and if I plan to sell it and buy 2010 I probably will take severe hit money wise. So I went to place called Internet
and found info that there will be new 911 introduced 2011/3q. This leads to my two questions:
1) Any info about this? true or not? facelift or complete makeover?
2) If new 911 is out 3q/11, when will new turbo come out?
Thanks in advance!

unless you want PDK dont make the move.
Only speculations on the next 911 but I would personally guess its going to be more revolutionary vs. evolutionary in updates previously. When I say this Im referring to body shape, the new engine is here to stay for a while. You might see it a wee bit longer and reduced front and rear overhang the latter stuffing the engine further forward.

Stick with the '08. The change in the 2010's is not enough to justify the beating you will take. Most people, with the exception of those that PDK is very important to, think the 2010 is a downgrade due to the engine. Whenever the 998/991 or whatever it is called arrives go for it. I have about 190,000 in my '08 and there is no way I would take the financial beating to go to a 2010. I have already talked to my dealer about getting one of the first 998/991 series cars when available. When the 996's were introduced there was a long delay until the Turbo versions were available and they were released very slowly. The 997 Turbos came much sooner to release of regular versions and in much higher numbers. I would assume the new version will be introduce more like the 997's. Key word "assume."

Your 08 Turbo is the last of the dry sump Gt1 engine breed . It has proven reliability and will go down in Porsche history as a benchmark . The new DFI engine has just come out and with time I anticipate that PDK will also evolve .
The verdict - Stick with your current car. It's a keeper.

I think 991 Turbo will be a MY 2012 at the earliest, or more likely 2013. Wasn't 997 Turbo a Model Year 2007, 2 years after the 997 C2 introduction?
For your other question: IMO, no, it's not worth switching from 2008 to 2010, unless it is PDK you want, and you can't wait.
I test drove a PDK Turbo a couple of days ago. With respect to suspension and car feel, 997.2 stock is better than 997.1 stock, but 997.1 Bilstein feels less insulated and more sporty than either. 997.2 stock is still soft and still very much a grand touring car. (997.2 Bilstein with alignment change will be a different story of course, but even then, the change is evolutionary and to me not significant enough to switch.)
With respect to acceleration, and only straightline acceleration, the PDK Turbo wipes out and overwhelms every thing I've driven previously (F430, Gallardo, GT2, Ford GT, Corvette, my Turbo). PDK is indeed shockingly fast, objectively and subjectively. I felt dizzy a couple of times in my test drive.
That said, I remain a manual gear box die-hard and have no plan to switch to a PDK car.
PDK versus Manual will remain a dilemma, and a debate, for all of us enthusiasts for many years to come.

Actually my '09 is the last of the dry sump GT1 block engines, but in your case, I'd leave it alone and wait a couple of years until we see what the revision brings.
Forget trying to trade from your '08 to a '10. Just enjoy what you are driving.

trading in and up?
I have thought about the same exact thing. I have an 09 tt 6 speed and had a 09 cs with pdk until i traded it in for the TT. I took a small bath in the trade in but the 1.9% financing for the TT helped make the trade in a little more palatable. I have looked into trading in the 09TT for either a 2010 TT or a 2011 ttS. My dealer said that all of the 2010 TT are already built so unless you wanted to get one that a Porsche dealer has built you are out of luck. That leaves the $170,000 ttS. One problem is that porsche doesnt offer good financing on the turbo/GT2/GT3 models but does offer 2.9% on all of the other models. Minimum financing is around 7-8%. The dealer indicated that i would have to have paid off my 09TT for at least 2 years in order to make the trade in a wash or else you would be paying for two cars but only owning one. I am still contemplating the trade in for the 2011 ttS but part of the problem is that if you want to add leather etc then the price can go up by close to 20,000 so now i am looking at a car that is less than 2 yrs newer than my 09 but almost 60,000 more with terrible financing. It just doesnt make sense money wise. I love my 09 6 speed but i stop and go on many hills on my way to work which makes the pdk more desirable (or the 6 speed with drive off assist). I dont know what i am gonna do but plan on sitting down with my dealer and looking at all the finances/numbers once the turbo S is official to see if it is at all feasible. Until Porsche can offer 1.9-2.9% financing on the turbos, getting a 2011 probably isnt going to happen. PVT, PDK, launch control etc all sound super cool but i live in hawaii so cant really open up the car to the max anyway. I will post an update once i sit down with Porsche-lets see what they say.

Thank you all for your comments. I made my decision and I will stick with my 08 997tt. Now I'll be prepared to jump to the completely new model as it comes out 2011/2012, not just a facelift. Plus, this is financially rational decision. I would have taken a serious hit jumping now to the 2010 model.
Thanks for putting sense into me!
next step is a call to Techart
