Car & Driver 997.2 Turbo 0-60 2.9 seconds!!!
PDK is a seriously efficient shifting gearbox. I have been saying this for a long time .
It does not surprise me that the times were impressive.
I won't ever sell my Turbo but I did want a taste of PDK enough to get the normally aspirated car . With a few modification tweaks the PDK even brings that non turbo weaker engine to is max potential . Six months of ownership and I love having both cars.
For those of you buying the PDk car --the selections offer a new dimension of choices and it does take time to learn which to pick and choose . I am guessing the 0-60 were using launch control in sport plus auto mode. It's incredible that this car can jump like a rabbit in one mode but in another (normal auto mode) it can calmly drive like a luxury car in traffic .
My greatest praise -
1) efficient shifting / brilliant rev matching -- just awesome!!!!
2) NO engine over rev .. impossible to money shift the car !!! That alone will save the engine and is the worth the PDK .
My biggest peeves -- (normally aspirated car)
1) sport auto has a harsh downshift into 1st gear . It also will not remain in 7th gear at 55 MPH. In short the normal is too boring , the sport agressive , and sport plus is track agressive. It's thse middle speed type of driving that finding the automatic choice leaves somewhat of a gap.
Thus I choose manual sport mode most of the time and shift the car myself.
2) simplicity - there is something to be cherished in a timeless manual gearbox. PDK is in its infancy on the street cars and could evolve .. and when it does .. the previois pdk may seem dated. Only time will tell if Porsche changes some of the settings or configurations .
I have a feeling .. PDK will get even better with time.

Even more respectful when one looks how it compares to the Carrera GT with 605hp.

1. Car and driver and supercars have totally diffrent methods of testing thier cars.
2. Since the Turbo is AWD and the GT is RWD you cant really look at the ET numbers.
3. IIRC i have seen a test that motor trend did and they trapped 131 with the GT which shows the amount of power it has.
That being said its still incredible that a Turbo can beat out most supercars on the road.
Is 2011 the last year for the 6 speed manual in the 911TT?
I’ll be interested in seeing what Chevy and Nissan come out w/ in regards to #s against this article. In the end I hope that the performance #s the Vette and GT-R have produced over the last few years keeps the fire to Porsche’s feet.

It really is amazing to think that people on this forum are comparing a supercar to a 911TT. The usability of the tt is just so amazing for the performance that it brings to the table. I have long wondered how much a dual clutch setup would do for the tt, and how much the numbers for the GTR relied on the same.
I don't get that Porsche is watering down the turbo to protect the GT3, why would Porsche protect a cheaper car and sell less of a higher margin car? That's like saying its protecting Boxster sales. Porsche would gladly sell more turbos to everyone. I think its more to do with Porsche catering to turbo buyers.
911 clocked a 11.3 @ 125mph 1/4 mile in the wet. R8 and GT-R went 12.1 @ 122 and 12.2 @ 121 and were tested in the damp, and in the dry, respectively.
No road course lap times I noticed as I believe it was raining during the time they had the cars.
0-60 times with launch control are not relevant to my driving at all. cannot do this on street. lap times for track days much more important so 1 sec less at lag seca with old school manual trans and for 50% less $ means vette destroyed the tt in this test
Guess the 5-60 isn't relevant on the street either ...
