Silly question on tinting.

With tinting being such a popular topic at the moment I'm wondering if anyone has an auto dimming rear view mirror on their tinted 997 and, if so have they had any problems with the tint affecting the performance of the mirror being able to detect headlights from behind at night?
Ok...I did say upfront this was a silly question so go easy..

Thanks for that....wasnt clear on whether there would be an adverse change with the performance of the mirror and its a great option to have and i didnt want to screw with that .

I've never been a huge fan of tint on a car like this but with summer being as hot as it has been over here I'm seriously considering getting it on.

I have 61% tint and it has no effect on the auto-dimming mirror. IIRC, Premier Films has a new product that is optically clear but still rejects a great deal of UV/IR radiation so you can even do your front windshield.

Being in Oz I'm not familiar on that 80's Iroc look Serpentene but assume its all bad....too dark etc. Anyways thanks. My main concern was not screwing up the auto dim mirrors if I wind up taking the plunge on the tint job and it appears that issue is fine. Its now just a matter of "to do" or "not to do"...

I have 15% tint all around. I too HATE very dark tint but mine looks good and you can still see inside. With Miami's sun, I had to go a bit more on the dark side!

The vision out the rear window at night is noticeably diminishedand I have a light tint (forget the % - 35%?). But I don't drive a lot at night so no worries.

So you say it affects the performance of the autosensing rear view mirror? or, are you saying that when you physically turn around to look out the rear when reverse parking the tint makes it difficult to see out of at night?

I don't think the mirror-dimming feature is effected - at least not to my knowledge. But the rear window tinting makes vehicles behind you in the night a lot harder to distinguish. Is it the police, or not....? Still, tinting is almost a necessity for the rear windows. The right tint for you is something you'll have to struggle with. Personally, I didn't go dark - just enough to keep cool and make it easy on the eyes for the road trips.

By the way, very nice rims on your beast!
K.
