Champion Motorsport 2010 997.2 Rear Carbon Diffuser

I decided to drop these photos into a new thread, rather than continue to confuse the turbocharger thread that I originally mentioned this new Diffuser in. For those that did not read the Turbocharger thread, there are photos of the mold under vacuum in that thread.

With the completion of this 2010 rear diffuser, we are now able to offer a complete Champion Motorsport aero package for the 997.2 Twin Turbo. We have the front splitter, rear wing with end plates, and now the rear diffuser. All of these components are constructed of the highest quality Pre-impregnated carbon fiber materials, vacuum bagged, and cured in our "in house" computer controlled curing oven.

All of these components have been verified in the wind tunnel, and are proven performers in regard to downforce and more importantly, aero balance.

The photos below are of the de-molding process of the 100% carbon fiber mold that will be used to produce the finished product.

I thought it would be interesting to show this process, as many people have never experienced the "behind the scenes" of carbon production. I also video taped the "de-molding" and after editing, I will add it as well. Once we put the mold into production, I will add a few photos of some actual parts being pulled from it.

Enjoy..

As always great work Louis.
Develop some components for the 997.1/997.2 GT3's? Maybe?

Cheers
Juan

Hey Juan,

We have our Carbon Diffuser for the 997.1 and 997.2, but not for the GT-3.

If you would like to be the "Test Car" we would definitely build the carbon for it, we have had interest. We would need to take it up north for wind tunnel testing and tuning, as the aero package on the GT-3 is far different from the standard car.

Thanks for the support.

Louis

Here is a Video that we put together during the demolding process.

As soon as we have them I will post a video of the demolding of the finished part, as well as the fitment to a 2010 997.2 Turbo.

Louis do you do the wind tunnel testing at Pratt-Whitney?
An effective aero kit for the GT3/RS? Sounds appealing. Lets talk about it.

Take care my friend.

Juan,

We do our tunnel testing up in North Carolina. We use the A2 Wind Tunnel facilities. If you check out their website, you can find photos of some of our Werks1 projects in the tunnel.

Basically we would have our engineer draw up a few test parts, based on the knowledge that we already have of these cars. We would then go to the windtunnel with the car and proof them, and make necessary adjustments. Then return home and build plugs, then molds, and then final product. It is a bit time consuming... Start to finish it takes 2 to 3 months to develop a new product like this.. We were lucky on the 997.2 turbo, as it was only mounting points that mandated a new mold to be made, so it was relatively quick to produce, and the wind tunnel work was not necessary as the rest of the car is the same.

Talk to you soon..

Louis

Great post Louis.

I had a Champion airbox on my 997s and their parts are great quality. Let's see some pix on a turbo!

hullo louis, i have a 997.1 and interested in the rear diffuser. couple questions do you have close up pictures mounted on a car from the back and under neath, also would this fit on an after market xhaust, as it covers up the entire rear? also what about heat dissipation in the rear engine area, as it is covered now. did you take before and after temp reading etc in the area that is now covered up .

Also can i just add the rear diffuser only with a oem front lip, is there any imbalance or do i have to go with werks front lip as ell

thanks
ronnie

Nasser,
The mounting points in the rear of the GT2 bumper are a little different then the traditional 997TT. It would require some slight modifications in order to make the fitment proper. The diffuser was designed for the 997TT not the GT2. I hope that answers your question.
