2011 Turbo S

Later this week, I am selecting options for a May build 911 Turbo S. Unfortunately, my dealer doesn't have a printable list of options for the car and I'm reluctant to just sit down at a desk and look at a computer screen and make choices for a $170,000 car based on 20 minutes of a computer screen, with the salesman's phone ringing and so forth. Has anybody seen a list of options for the 2011 Turbo S? Thank you

What kind of information are you looking for specifically. Currently the 2011 Turbo S is only configurable through our dealer database. There are some new exterior colors available as well as the interior options that are currently available on the 2010 Turbo now. The only thing I notice that stands out as a new option on the 2011 Turbo S are clear glass tail lights.

ice blue metallic for exterior. two tone leather interior blue/black or white/black and teh clear tailights.

also the exterior package painted which includes the back apron - the regular turbo doesnt have that option - you have to do side skirts and front apron separately with no option for the back apron to be painted.

other than that - all the same... i think i went through everything with my dealer when i ordered mine last week

My dealer told me that they recv confirmation that Ice Blue metallic would not be available until September builds when I ordered my April build last week.

Hi again.
I don't know if what I got from my dealer tonight is privileged info, so I wont post it until I know about that. But in regards to the Metallic colors, the footnote for ICE BLUE METALLIC says
(21) Available for 911 Turbo S as of SOP 01/2010 (available for 911 Turbo as of 09/2010)

I really like that blue for the same reason I liked Arctic Silver on the used 2007 I enjoyed last year: Stealth at twilight- against instant-on radar: You see them and slow down before they're sure you're really there (at a quarter-half mile) and illuminate you. With the blue/black interior, the blue metallic is sweet. I'll post Thursday after I visit my dealer in Ft Collins.

The one thing this data sheet clears up for me is that the overboost of the standard turbo/chrono at 516lbs is full-time torque in the TurboS and the torque is delivered 2100-4250rpm, vs 1950-5000rpm in standard. I gues that means it's a monster-but limited to not tear things apart at higher rpm (where hp takes over,eh?)

I'll believe 25mpg highway when I see it!

With the Turbo S as loaded with options-as-standard as it is, I think I'm likely to only order embossed seats, bluetooth PCM, alcantara wheel covering and carbon interior trim; but I do want Michelin PS2 tires-not the harder Bridgestones. Driving from Wyoming to Laguna Seca last August I had to switch in mid Nevada at $1000/tire installed. No comparison. The PS2's were stable to 180mph and much better in cornering, on track. They're softer and wear out faster. But so what? They're better tires

i don't think you can specify which tire you want from the factory, might have to work out a deal with the dealer if it is that important

I haven't heard about being able to specify tyres when you order the car either.

BTW I have ordered an S with Ice Blue Metallic paint and the blue black interior too. Only "option" that I ordered was the Porsche logo in the headrests. The car comes with everything I wanted anyway.

Believe it or not I was going to option voice control but was put off by the fact that the control to activate the option was a button at the end of one of the stalks on the steering column. Have thought about this every day since and called the dealer today to see if I could add this without delaying the build date. He will get back to me next week.

The reason for the change of mind was that I can still keep an eye on the road whilst I push a button and make a command with voice control. It's safer than trying to look at the touch screen and keep an eye on the road at the same time whilst you let your fingers "do the walking".

Get it if you can. I have it on my Benzes and use it every trip to call staff and friends by name or use the stereo and nav. It is one of those things you don't need until you have it and then you can't do without it.

update on order options

I found out the file is OK to post
Here is a link to the PDF file on the Turbo S
http://www.laserradio.com/turbos.pdf

The earlier posting about Metallic Blue not being available until August-September is correct. I think they're having trouble with the paint formulation. I am considering Anniversary Blue (see this link)
http://www.teamspeed.com/forums/pors...d-porsche.html
because I like the blue/black interior of the Turbo S so much. But if this special paint is too much money and will delay the car's build too much, I'll just go with Arctic Silver and two tone Black /Stone Grey.

Also, the RS-style (center hub) wheels are also not available! That's OK with me, as maintaining them and getting a tire change appear to be problematic, so I'[m going with the new five-spoke wheels.
As for tire choice, I guess there is no way to specify what you want- unless you go through the special order department afterwards (but I'll bet you'll still be paying for the original set). Apparently, four manufacturers of tires send a stream of rubber into the plant: Pirelli, Bridgestone, Michelin and ?
and the cars get what is there, then, period.

As I understand it, all Porsches now come with XM radio antenna and wiring- but the XM radio option is $700. The PCM comes with Bluetooth and aux inputs for MP3 players as standard. I don't think I'll go with voice-command, as I am a lonely person and don't have friends I want to call when I'm doing 60-100 on state highways in deer country. I'd rather slow down, stop at a bar, get out the Tracfone I bought at KMart and call then.

wyo997, great post!

I'm surprised to hear about the Spyder wheels. I'd hope Porsche would lower the price accordingly.

spyder wheels exclusion doesnt sound right... they were brand new for the 2010 Turbo as an option and included automatically in the Turbo S... it's the same exact wheel so seems odd.

either way, when i placed my order a couple of weeks ago for April build the system didnt have a problem accepting it. we shall see i guess
