"New" 2009 TT Alignment

I followed the advice on the forums and had my 'new' 2009TT that I purchased with 3200 miles aligned. The rumors were that they come out of the factory off a bit; plus I figured I might as well start from ground zero so to speak.
Glad I did. While the numbers weren't off substantially, it did need tweaking to come into prescribed tolerances. Nothing major, but off a tad, especially Toe.
Thanks boys.

Nick

I think its good practice on any 911 to get it aligned after a few thousand miles of purchase.

I also had the experience that Porsche's factory alignment leaves a lot to be desired. I had the alignment on my 2008 GT2 checked last year at the one-year service, at 7400 miles. The rear was at tolerance limits, not great but acceptable.

Front toe was out of spec (excessive toe) on both sides. The left side was the worst. As a result both tires show excessive wear on the inside edge. As a consequence they had to be replaced (cord beginning to show on the left tire) with quite a bit of tread left over the entire surface except the inner edges.

Why is Porsche so careless about alignment? None of my BMWs or Ferraris had out-of-spec alignments when checked after about one year. (I always wait a year for the suspension to settle. Wish I had checked the GT2 alignment earlier).

this is an unfortunate issue, i too assume my alignment is a bit off...my rears are worn on the inside more than the outside

i am doing springs and sways this spring so i will align it then...you would think that for a car like this it would be perfect as delivered

They just settle, always have. You should have it checked around 3K miles. Once realigned, it stays pretty stable. Make sure and use someone who knows what they're doing. It's not easy to do correctly.

Our crappy roads in this country, especially around here, don't help things.
