Clear bra issues ...

I had the dealer install a clear bra on my '09 Turbo when I picked it up about 18 months ago. I don't know the brand, but it was "complementary". I had one on the '07 C4S as well and liked the protection.

But, altho I use Plexus (as I was told), bug splatter does not clean off. There are hundred of bug spots on the bra that I can't seem to remove with Plexus.

Any experience with this kind of issue? What is the solution?

I have the same problem and have been looking for a solution for months. I have tried various cleaners and waxes without success. My detailer says this is common and there is no easy fix.

What kind of paint protection film? What brand was installed? Have you been caring for it with appropriate cleaners ie PF1 or something similar? (http://www.premiermobilegroup.com/pf1_products.shtml)

When you had bug spots, did you wash it off right away or did you let it sit? Stained plastic film may not be salvageable.

Most people treat paint film similar to clear coat...use an appropriate polish and buffer and try and clean it off...pics would help. Otherwise, you may simply need it replaced. I find that the clear film requires appropriate maintenance just like clear coat on paint. If you don't keep it in good shape, it becomes progressively harder to clean. Let bugs and bird droppings sit too long, and the plastic will be damaged permanently.

I've had Venture Shield on my 997TT for 3 years and it looks as good as the day it was installed.

if stained, you may try some diluted bleach. otherwise, keep it clean by wiping off bugs and bird dropping w a wet towel. i put a couple coats of Zaino Bro's polish just like the rest of my car. pretty much all film are alike these days - 3M and Venture are similar in every way.

TTR from Premier removed a yellowish stain from my clear bra that Plexus could not. TTR is a strong solution and must be neutralized after using. Speak with Premier and get the right products. Clear bra can be polished with a mild polish like Menzerna Super Finish and a random orbit polisher, but you shouldn't over polish it.

Xpel make a Paint Protection Film Cleaner designed to extract most environmental deposits such as tar, oil, hard water stains, bug acids and other contaminants from Polyurethane paint protection films. Its deep cleaning action restores the clear, glossy, freshly-installed appearance of the original film. It is made for any film and does a great job on new and older film. Hope this helps

They are the same, but Venture Shield is better. 3M Clear Bra is not as thick and starts to yellow after a while, while Venture Shield is thicker and is made from better material.

Little OT, but I've read that Plexus tends to yellow the film. Best to wash and protect with a spray wax or use the Premier products. YMMV

I am not too sure about that. I currently have Venture on my P4S and 3M on my 997tt. I had Venture on the 997tt, but went to 3M recently. Both have trade offs. Bird doo doo and bug splatter tends to stain the Venture film. Can't get it off unless you get if off almost immediately. 3M has a clear coat on it and bug and bird stains come right off. More orange peel on the 3M film. Venture is a much clearer film. As far as yellowing goes, both will yellow over time. I can't say one film is a better quality film over the other. Remember, 3M now owns Venture..
