Do Upgraded Turbos Require Catless Race Exhausts?

Is there a large performance difference between a well flowing Europipe exhaust and a catless system from (insert a random vendor) on a car with upgraded turbos? I noticed that some vendors offer their 700HP kits with race exhausts, the others are fine with 200 cell systems. What do most people run? Tks, A

Generally, turbos love freer flowing air.

A friend, who is also a member here, ysfg35, went from a Fabspeed 200 cell system to a Vivid straight pipe. He has Garrett GT30s.

His turbos loved it. He felt a noticeable improvement with his butt dyno.

On the other hand, I don't know how modded VTGs will behave...

I have upgraded turbos and ran with with fabspeed 200 cell cats for about 6 months. Just recently removed cats (still have mufflers) and i can tell the car feels so much smoother and also def stronger

To reach maximum power potential cat-less is the way to go.

If you can do it, run the catless system. We have one standard system, flows enough for 800hp on pump gas with 200 cell cats. Sledgehammer runs the same system as well with cat delete pipes. Our system is modular, so in a matter of minutes you can run the test pipes on the track, then swap it back to cats before you leave.

Most people however, do not enjoy the obnoxious motor boat sound of
straight pipes.

I would call Todd Z at EVOMS, and ask what type of fabspeed exhaust
that he has on his black 997TT.2. It is very fast, quiet but sounds
great.

+1, these cars sound terrible with straight pipes, IMHO.

PM me if you have any further questions.

Not all cat-less sound loud/drone, straight pipes are not what I would recommended.
Cat-less with muffler is what I would recommend.

I have a Cargraphic race exhaust that it is cat-lees with muffler, by far the best sounding system I have heard so far.

huge backpressure is a big enemey of turbo cars, if you have a huge amount of backpressure your car will make more power if you free it up. You also increase your volumetric efficiency this way(and even more adding things like external wastegates which will also increase your v. e.)

I have a Europipe exhaust with 100 cell cats. It has ~0.18 bar of back pressure, so it's one of the best flowing street legal systems. At least to my knowledge.
It sounds like it's worth a try running it with upgraded turbos. The car is mostly driven in the city, so I'd like to keep catalytic converters in there for now.
Thanks!

Here is what we got on first modded vtg's car from Milltek exhaust w/200 HJS cells lto Prototech/Protomotive catless X-Pipe exhaust system

100-200kmh we shaved 0.5-1sec...mid 6's
200-300kmh we shaved 4-5sec.....13's-15s's

We gut Ruf 200cell exhaust also we got impressive results also

We tested Protomotive catless X-Pipe exhaust system on stock , modded VTG's and even cars w/GT kit...We got SICK performance and sound!

I was in a friend's C2 with muffler bypass and it was awful. Not just outside but inside the car was so loud and obnoxious that I just can't imagine recommending it for road use. He is going back to muffled sound.

Neil, is there much difference in volume and quality of sound with the cat in vs out on your system with a muffler? Same question to anyone else that has gone through the change. Venkat, it seems that you have done this and don't find the catless exhaust with muffler too bad for daily driving use, right?
