One thing I wonder too is warranty. What if a LED goes out, whats our recourse? Can they be replaced, or is the light sealed and a paper weight (like the ones in my BMW lol)

Looks like ebayers are offering one year warranty. Hopefully it's backed by manufacturer. I think you have to replace the whole thing unless you are brave enough to open up the lens and replace the individual LED.

The more I look at my OEM tail light the more I want to get these LEDS. 997.1 tails sure look outdated compare to 997.2 and these LEDs.

Guys - the rear fog light -- is it only in the left side ?!? I don't have a right rear fog light when I switch it on. The dealer said that this is standard for Porsche - only left rear fog light. Can someone please confirm?!
Thx

They look very cheap, and very aftermarket. The lack of the rear foglight seals the deal for me.

Yes the rear foglight is on the left side, however there is a full functioning bulb in the right housing. It just does not light up when the rear fogs are activated.

since HK drives on the opposite side of the road, maybe you can switch the rear fog bulb from right to left

Response from Hong Kong, "
You can try disconnect the battery and reconnect it. If this doesn’t work, then you will need to add load resistors from www.v-leds.com. They have a special resistor for turn signals error."

I tried the disconnect the battery trick- no luck.

Yeah, they should have included those resistors in with the tails. I'm surprised that it doesn't throw an error with the brakes... not sure why they wouldn't just do the same for the turn signal. You can probably just go to radio shack or something and wire it up. However, I know nothing when it comes to this sort of electronic garbage, so you probably want to speak with someone about that.

Translation:

"We screwed up, and you will have to spend money and fix it on your own."

Hmmm...disappointing response. Doesn't really inspire much confidence if you need a fix down the road. Rots of ruck.

Although, I did note...2020's car is a 2007 Turbo. All pre 2008 997s require additional control module updates before switching to OEM LED tail lights. Not sure if this is related or not, but it would be interesting to see if this happens to 2008+ cars.

Just looked at the link they sent for the load resistors - not exactly straight forward unless you happen to be a part time auto electrician!

I think if we go ahead with the group buy we should insist this resistor issue is solved at the factory before shipping
