boost pressure loss on 997TT

Hi guys,

I own a 2008 997TT (10K miles) with tiptronic and complete techart engine kit which includes techart remap, air intakes, headers and exhaust (550 HP)

yesterday I had a rolling with my friend who has a E60 M5 (with headers and exhaust) and at every try, he overtook me. Then I saw that my car is only pushing 1.0 bar max ! He told me that a regular 997TT overtakes him easily, so he says that my car has problems. I'm not a racing guy and I don't do rollings so often so I didn't notice the problem.

Anyone has any idea about this problem ? thank you

There's a lot of areas that could be causing a boost leak. Here are a few of the places I would check first:
  • Both upper and lower intercooler hoses. Sometimes if the metal clip is not inserted properly, they can come loose and cause major boost leaks.
  • Connection from the Y-Pipe to the throttle body.
  • Intercooler hoses connecting to Y-Pipe. (same issue with the metal retaining clips.
Those would be a few good places to start searching. Let us know if you find any issues and we can all try to help you out.

Boost gauge of 997TT cant show above 1,0bar unless in sport mode that shows up to 1,2bar...(no matter what boost the car is running...)So the indicator is not the best way to tell a boost problem...However very common issue is wastegates and more precise wastegate axles that tend to stuck and the car looses power...Very easy fix, just jack the car and have a look underneath at turbo area...a local mechanic should fix it...If thats not the case then check all your hoses for loosen clamps...

I've had all of the above happen to me. Those are great places to start looking for boost loss.

I took the car to the workshop, and we figured out that theres a major boost leak where the turbo and exhaust hoses are. And i've been told that my car needs a maintenance. So i'll leave it on monday, the regular maintenance will be done (oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs etc.) with fixing the hoses and then the guys at the evotech will do some mods. I'll change my airfilter to the BMC one, the new large throotle body (GT3) will be installed along with the evotech remap. And I'm ordering werks1 carbon y-pipe and plenum from Alex @ sharkwerks..

I'll keep you guys updated, i'm tryin to do 7.4 secs 100-100 kmh for now.. but my aim is 5.5 secs, but it'll take time

Yes I dont understand. Why replace the techart kit? You are not happy?
I understand the carbon pipe, the plenum (although debatable apparently) but to change maps I dont see it...
Someone seems to be selling you stuff you may not need. And you needed a tech to tell you your car needs maintenance?? How long since your last oil change?

nope, the problem is i don't have a remap nomore, because when I took the car to the workshop last week, they have done an upgrade to the ecu and i've lost the techart remap. I didn't know it till yesterday when we read the ecu we saw that it wasn't techart anymore. so no one is selling me a stuff that i don't need. it's just a stupidity what happened to me.

my last oil change was at 4000 miles (now i have 10400) and the air filter is so dirty.

shotcaller; after these mods i'll try to run 7.4 .. but my goal is to have 5.5 after doing some hardtunes like new turbos etc. I guess 7.4 is realistic

In Turkey, there is only 91 octane. That makes a difference. But I guess he will run at least 7 flat with that tune on 91 on a cool weather, like 14-15 degrees.
