Check Speedworld's schedule for test and tunes during the day. (Sat's and Sun's) There are usually less cars there and you will not have to wait long for several runs. We used to go there and get plenty of runs.

Day before Turkey Day update

Dropped off the KW shock at EVOMS today. Had a nice chat with Todd Z. regarding the dual switch and goals for the race map.
My original intention was to go for 'pump' setting and a full on 'race fuel' map running pure MS109. My thoughts were to maximize power output of the bolt-ons using the highest unleaded octane available. But according to him, 94 would essentially max out the power gains of the upgraded VTG's (i.e. MS109 would provide a good safety net, but wouldn't yield any appreciable gains over 94). Ah well. Guess that saved me a ton of $$ in race fuel

So, coilover goes back on Monday, dyno tuning starts Monday/Tuesday. Car back in my hands next week. WOOT! Stay tuned....

Car in the bullpen waiting for next week. Todd Z. checking out the car

Sorry to hear about new issues with the suspension. You must be pulling your hair out by now. Good news is by the time you get the car back, your car's new powerplant will put a smile back on your face.

Next week should be pretty exciting! What's the limiting factor for the 94 octane, how much boost will you be running on race file?

Yeah it will! Wish I had it for the long weekend, but good news is I took time off the week after, so I'll be getting well acquainted with the car

The limiting factor power-wise with the 775 kit is the VTG's. Putting down much more power than that would require work on the internals. Race file with the dual switch, I believe, will run around 26 psi (almost 1.8 bar)??

Yeah, the aftermarket suspension issues I've had with this car have been aggravating to say the least. I swore that if I couldn't get this quickly resolved, I'd go back to a simple springs and sways set up. Now with the end of the project on the horizon, I'm all smiles again

You're not kidding. 1.8 bar on 94 octane seems really high plus I believe the stock pressure transducer is only accurate up to 1.55 bar or so and anything above that is a guess. In any event, I have no doubt you will have one of the fastest vtgs on the road and you will look like everytime you nail it.

That's what I was thinking as well. He did say that running 109 would be safer for more prolonged hard driving (i.e. pounding it on a track for a whole day), but 94 is fine for street.
Also asked about E85. I think if stations were more accessible here and between here and Southern California (pretty much the only other place I drive this car), I'd go for it. But the fact that I'd have to change out the injectors (dropping the motor?=$$) and would need to have an essentially bone dry tank each time before I filled up with the corn juice makes it a less than convenient option as well.

From what I hear, the stock transducer is inaccurate to begin with. The PLX unit looks like a great option. But I only really need the boost gauge. I know QUIK 911 has one in place of his chrono pod. Anyone else do this?

Geez Ed, sounds like a rocket. You're singlehandedly responsible for me even considering alpha3071 turbos. But then I just read milou's comments after getting the extrude upgrade on his already upgraded vtgs and he sounds happy as a clam. Decisions, decisions. Can't wait to see some pbox data. Santa is bringing me a pbox (I've been a good boy).

I thought about 3071's or 76's for a bit. But, I didn't want to mess with the internals, both from a cost and engine longevity standpoint. So VTG's and sub 800-ish crank hp were fine for me. Plus, you have to remember I've only had a COMPLETELY STOCK turbo since I bought it. Stock power would sometimes frighten the crap out of me. Now adding 200 hp overnight (well, really a month later, but you get my point), should be...interesting
I won't be the fastest car on the forums, not by a long shot. But it'll destroy 99.9% of anything I'll ever see on the road. That's good enough for me

Just there for the day? I hope to catch some of the live tuning on Tuesday and pick her up on Thursday at some point. Wednesday is out for me.
