First Test Drive and Potential Purchase

Hello all and Merrry Christmas. Drove a 997 TT a few days ago and wanted to share my thoughts and have a few questions.

Comments
1. OMG
2. OMG
3. I don't know why anyone would make this car faster
4. Glad I decided not to pursue a 996

Questions.
1. Car in in avg condition with 43k on the clock. High for an 07!
2. Asking price is 74k I think I could walk away with it for 72.
3. car has PCCBs- is the diameter of the discs and the size of the caliper the same as the std brakes?
4. Car does not have axle diff- should I be concerned.
5. Main options- PCCB, Sports Chrono, Adaptive sports seats. Full leather

Thanks.

OMG, LOL!

Just for reference, I picked up an 08 6spd in October, 34k miles, PCCB brakes, axle diff, sport chrono, gt2 slave cylinder conversion, alcantara EVERYTHING, deviated yellow stitching and black HRE P40's with new tires for 83k. 72k sounds about right.

that price is about right. you can buy a 95% coverage warranty policy for about $2k for 2 yrs coverage from your porsche dealership. you should look that up, cheap insurance for an unforseen repair.

It wouldnt cost you a lot more to get one with far fewer miles and a CPO, especially if you factor in an aftermarket warranty.

Aside from the coverage, the cpo inspection makes sure you're getting a clean car. For example, they won't cpo a car that had a fender replaced at the dealership I do business with.

Fwiw, I like my pccbs.

Thanks for the input guys. Just spoke with the dealer who serviced the car. Waiting on the DME readout and service records. Nice to know its also a one owner car as well. I will look into what it will take to get is CPO'd + ext. warranty.

As for PCCB's, are the calipers and the discs the same size as the standard brakes?

the omg - kind of what i thought when i got one for a long weekend - what really surprised me though was the amazing sound of the engine. having read so much about the sad exhaust sound - both mine have sport exhaust - i was not expecting to really like the car - i kept it for 2 more days though becuase it was unbelievably fun.

Pccb's are much more robust. I love them. A $8k option you are getting for free.

$72k for a 2007 with Ceramic brakes is not a good deal, it's a GREAT deal. A dealer would charge you at least $13k more for a similar car without Certification. Good luck and enjoy.

I agree it's an great price. A few things that are making me hesitant are a lot of rock chips and the drivers seat has a few pretty significant scuffs. Regardless still a deal.

All I can say is that I spent close to 3 months searching for the perfect 2007 997tt and $85k was the lowest priced one I've seen with Ceramics and Tip. I hope that makes you feel better, cause damn!!!!

SonicKrack- yeah I know it's almost too good to be true. As long as DME is clean and paint meter shows up clean I'll be moving forward.

I'm in the market for a 997.1 TT and I think I just drove this car today before seeing this post. If its a GT Silver on an auto broker lot, then it is the same car. But I would not buy it. It has a significant vibration/resonance from 1500-2000 RPM and mechanically it just did not feel right. There was also significant damage to the left rear wheel where somebody smacked a curb or something.

On paper, the car seems like a deal, but a closer inspection and drive tells a different story. Its priced low for a reason. It's always suspicious when the servicing/leasing dealer did not want to keep the car on their own lot for re-sale. This one got rejected out of the Porsche system and sent to the "used car" arena. Buyer beware and be sure to get an independent PPI on cars like this.

Saw that car posted on craigslist for a while as well.

Maybe there's a reason why it hasn't sold.
