Can you track a TIP?

Pretty much the tittle says it all, Can you track a tip? Will the transmission hold? Is it fun? Worth it?, I have a Tip and I would really like to participate on some of the track days but was wondering if is even worth it... I know is a blast on a 1/4 Mile but how does it behave on a different type of track...

Thanks

Jay

I don't see why not. The tip has been around for quite some time and is pretty robust. There are some tip cars running around with crayz HP.

The turbos at porsche sport driving school were tips before they got the PDK cars. they were tracked everyday.

If you don't have much experience I seriously doubt you'll have more skill than the car can handle. Go for it and have fun!

Definitely, maybe even faster as you will be more consistent. At the Porsche Driving School, the instructors hot lapped in tip turbos when I was there the second time and what they can do with them astounding!

Most tip guys I talk to at the track say they run it in 'sport mode' and it runs great rather than trying to shift up or down with buttons or now paddles

the problem is when you step on the brakes before a turn, and you want to make fast one or maybe 2 downshifts.. :-)

NJR911 is infamous around these parts
Yes you can track a tip and it is a blast, however I find as I push mine harder that I wish I had paddles to control the shifts in corners as the drive mode in sport does a 95% good job but somtimes I wish for more control. On some of the tracks I drive the car shifts and the car becomes unstable because of the speed and the place at which it decides to shift. I have looked at the avaliable steering wheels with paddles but do not really care for the look as well as the cost, and as we know whatever idiot at porsche designed the buttons should be SHOT!
