Can any of the low mileage 2007 owners relate ?

I bought my Turbo in 07 and spent almost as much as what the car cost to upgrade everything from the brakes, suspension, engine ,aerokit, wheels, interior (etc) . I saw the amount of time that went into making this car unique and with all that it became so special .
Some want to drive their cars every day .
Some leave it stock .
Some only drive it on rare occasions at track events .
and then there's me .. I look at it like art .
Every time I drive the car I get this reminder of why I bought it and how much I want to preserve it like new . I still feel this way .
I drive my others cars and look at the roads with traffic, or construction, or see the drivers who lack courtesty and I feel glad that my Turbo is pristine and like new.
I have 11,500 miles in 4 years so i do drive it .. just not all the time .
I still feel like I did years ago .. I want to keep it forever .
Even though newer models have come out . It doesn't even matter to me if with time my car becomes dated .
This car is the best car i ever had .
Any other 07 owners feel the same way even after 4 years ?

Larry, nice to see you posting here again, I always see your posts in the 997 section, lol.
To answer your question, this IS the best car I've ever had the joy of owning and driving. In fact I've driven a few lambo's and some other exotics and the 997 turbo does it all for me. I have a little over 30k on her and although I didnt buy her new, I have put most of the miles. I too want to keep this car forever and enjoy looking at it and stuff, but different from you, I find that the way this artform is made to be enjoyed the most is by driving it.
So how about a roadtrip to visit your 6speed friend in NY???????

Larry, I'm approaching 4 years in a few months as well but no, I relate the same way as you LOL.
Of course, it's your car and you should do whatever makes you happy. Me on the other hand, I couldn't ever imagine spending this kind of money to stare at it. That would be torture.
Mine is NOT my daily driver and yet i've just passed 45,000 miles on it. While this is a wonderful car, it is not a collectable. It will depreciate like a stone, forget about maintaing it's value or increasing.
Having a few extra miles or a few extra paint chips will not alter the car's worth very much.
I know all the mods you did and you spent a LOT of money. This would make me want to drive the car even more. keeping it stock and not wanting to drive it, I can understand - I wouldn't do it, but I can understand it. Modding it? you've already altered the car pretty dramatically so I would think most people would want to get their money's worth.
I am as fanatical as they come with regards to upkeep and it's appearance. There is no one that I would let detail my car except me and it's done frequently. Can I see the paint chips? sure. does it make me run screaming into the night? nah, I almost look at it like a badge of honor. You should see the bottom of my Techart front spoiler - you would break out in a rash!
No biggie. I can take it off and have it re-sprayed when It starts to bother me.
For me, the car just gives me a lot more pleasure to drive that I would get from keeping it pristine and kept in the garage. I look forward to hitting 50K, 75K and then 100K miles.

Well mine aint 4 year old yet and its still a bit of a spring chicken in a number of ways....low mileage near 11000kms, no chips scratches or scrapes (excepting the poor ole tech 1 front lip which i can paint if i feel the need) but i wouldnt let any of its current pristine physical condition get in the way of my being able to use it as and when i want. Rain hail snow or sunshine the car needs use....and will be used!! I hate not driving it!! I agree with Chris (amg) the car will drop like a stone in value no matter how much money is thrown at it so there is no point wrapping it up in cotton wool and mothballing it. I look forward to each and every wonderful mile/km i am able to put on her and whilst i agree the car is indeed beautiful to behold....like art,...its still far more satisfying using it than staring at it. So in answer to your question do many of us feel the same? Well i know i do in some ways, but i also know the time is rapidly approaching when 991tt will arrive and im sure when that time comes around my love for the 997tt will wane and focus will shift. So, knowing i got my pound of flesh out of the car in the meantime is very important. Needless to say i can always stare and gaze at it whenever i choose.
Hi Larry! I'm with you on this one. The amount of time and energy one puts into transforming their car into something that is "just perfect" can have tremendous personal meaning. I don't think I'll ever feel that the look of 997tt will become dated except for maybe the taillights--lol. Sure, it's monetary value will drop but that's not why we buy these cars in the first place. So you're not alone on this one. Hope all is well in Florida! Dave

I have spent a lot of time in the 997 section . It's interesting that i drive that car daily so it inclines me to post there more . Plus PDK was so new and I learned a lot about the Gt3 which is the car I also wanted chatting with normally aspirated owners.
But i never lost sight of my Turbo. I look at the other 997 cars as a way to compliment the Turbo .
I have wanted to visit New York . It's actually my home town and it's been years . It's funny to think that when I lived in New York I drove a car a lot but now when I go to visit I usually stay at a hotel in Manhattan because the city has so much to do. In fact the last time i went there I actually rented a car and never drove it except from the airport and back.

I don't have my car yet (Turbo S for May delivery) and I am already feeling the same way. This is actually the exact reason why I am putting so much money into this "toy". Every time I saw a prestine 993 or 964, I can still feel an excitement towards the car. I guess this is the reason why the 911 line had not changed much over the years and hopefully will remain the same over the next 60 years. When you have an iconic product, it is best to leave the essence of it alone.
And I do plan to keep this car for a very long time to come as I don't think I will ever get the "courage" and approval from my wife to do it again.

non-TT thoughts
It's interesting to hear from both sides of the fence on the point. I have to say 'more' is an addiction I suffer from; "a tt would be nice, and the '07's are now within range . . . ". Control is important; so is driving these tools (or G-force instruments). I snow and water ski for that same sensation; SuperG on Friday !
Fortunately I get to create in my daily work and IMO 'Art' is truly hard to accomplish.
yrralis1 has been a great voice on the 997 forum. Sound thoughts and support. Is there a '2islarry' ?

I liked reading about the father son that went to the Texas mile in their souped up 930 and each got timed over 175 after driving the car to TX from where the lived (forget where, but it was far). Car had 600k miles on it.
That's cool.

Nice nostalgia thread as I approach my 1 year anniversary with my 2007tt. Bought it with 5500 miles on it and it now has about 12000 or so (lol, I can't remember b/c it's been hibernating for the winter). Some of you may be dreaming about the next 991tt or whatever but my love affair with this car will last. It's not that I couldn't afford the 991 (but boy would it take some convincing to bring wife on board after lusting after this 997tt for so long) but I just don't see the point (for me). This car is the first 911 turbo that I looked at and said "ah, that's the one for me". Finally got the dashboard and the exterior cosmetics to my liking. Sure, the new led taillights rock, but I could easily upgrade to those. This car is a "buy and hold" for me and I don't care at all about resale value as I will keep it at least 10 years. I'll enjoy every mod and will put bigger vtgs on it in a year or so. Might change the wheels although I quite like the stock ones. Best bang for the buck for sure!
Amazingly I only have around 9,500 miles on mine
I love it and have no intention to sell but whenever I get in the garage for a normal trip the Bentley gets the nod
I'm very lucky to have several amazing cars. None get driven as much as they should but each puts a huge smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel
With all the stress in daily life even a brief ride can do wonders for the soul!
