Siphoning gas?
Siphoning gas?
I'm trying to drain my tank of what is potentially crap pump gas. About 1/2 full now.
Bought a pump siphon from Harbor Freight. Made sure the in and outs were where they were supposed to be. Fed the tube into the tank and bottomed it out. After about 10 attempts, no luck. Not even a drop. And each time I pulled out the tubing, there wasn't even one drop of fuel on the tip.
Is there some antisiphoning mechanism or screen in the tank preventing the tube from getting into the tank?

the do have a roll over valve..
might look at the tank see if it has a drain plug ..
kinda rare these days though for bad gas..
if there is water in your tank dump in some rubbing alcohol it will break down the water.

Bad gas abounds in these parts. California gas is crap. We get the crap they don't want.

Not sure I'm so comfortable dumping rubbing alcohol in the tank

So how the heck do you get fuel out of the tank short of hooking it up to a PIWIS and activating the fuel pump?
you should be able to get like a 3/8 fuel line into the tank..you can buy 10 feet of it cheap at like kragen.
keep pushing it into the tank..blow into the hose and if you hear bubbles..like blowing air into a straw thats in liquid you got it into the tank.
alot of people will put about 16oz of alcohol in a tank while its in storage..it will absorb the moisture..auto parts stores sell products to do this..read the ingredients ...there all rubbing alcohol.
FYI dont suck on the hose,if its not into the fuel you will burn the crap out of your lungs.

Thx for the alcohol tip. But I should be more to the point on why I want to drain the tank. It's quite possible that it's bad. But I also want to drain any pump gas (good or not) so I can fill with undiluted 109 for some 'testing'
This will help me eliminate gas as a limiting factor.
from searching around seems these cars should have a drain plug..
but not 100% sure but that would be a easy way to dump the fuel.
and quick.
(ps don't have a drop light near by)
don't want this to be your last post.

Buy an electric fuel pump, hook one line into the tank, the other into a bucket and turn it on.

Problem doesn't seem to be the pump. Seems like I just can't snake the tubing far enough into the tank to even reach the fuel.
