Paddle shifter retrofit to 997.1?

Newby here..will the gen 2 paddle shifter steering wheels fit on my 997.1? I assume a new airbag will also be needed? Anyone have part nos. for the alcantara version if it will indeed fit...mucho gracias

Due to popular demand we are updating this post, thanks to all of you who consider Suncoastparts.com your main Porsche parts source.

First thing to do when planning to update your 997.1/987.1 steering wheel to a paddle style steering wheel is to find a shop that will be able to perform the install. Sounds simple, but many Porsche dealers will not try this upgrade because it is not authorized by Porsche. This forum might be the a great source to find the right shop who will perform the work.

After you find the right shop, you will need the following items: new steering wheel, airbag and often times a steering column control unit.

Note: Control unit, steering wheel and airbag must be programmed by a Porsche dealer with a PIWIS Tester.

-You will lose Multifunction

-Control module is for the horn to work technician must upload info from old module and download to new module with PIWIS Tester

-May be able to switch a setting to "Multifunction" and bypass the new control module purchase (not tested)

Because this is not an authorize Porsche modification there isn't an install guide and the items are non-returnable so please do your own research before purchasing the items.

Ryan I’ve install the PDK steering wheel on my 2007 turbo according to your specs. Steering wheel, airbag and module for the wheel-99761328901. My car had a Tip. sport steering wheel without multifunction controls.
It was plug and play, everything was working right after the installation from the start of the engine, no programing was necessary in my case. There is a “sport” sing on the left side of my steering wheel when I activate “sport mode” as well No errors on dashboard and the horn is working without any issues.

Slawek, I know this thread is a few years old but I have a 997.1 C2S Tip and want to do this upgrade. I see where Suncoast mentioned all the models except the 2005-2008. Did you have to order a certain year 997.2 pdk steering wheel?
