In the market for a 997.1 Turbo in the very near future. It's slim pickings for a Turbo in my price range ($90K or less) in a color I want. Everything I see is Black or Silver, two colors I said I would never get.

Any I do see are either non-CPO, or have 50K+ miles, or have the not-so-popular grey interior.

Wise to get a non-CPO Turbo? My M3 was CPO and for 30K miles so far, I never had do to anything at the dealer other than the expensive M oil changes.

Someone find me a Carrara White 997.1 Turbo and I'll be your best friend!

It is smart depending on your budget..But you can also find yourself a clean one out of warranty with 30-40K Miles in the low 70s range and buy an extended warranty for around $4500-5k. A CPO should be around high 80s-Low 90s

They say these are pretty reliable cant wait to see..

Once you locate a car or two Get the vin and mileage. Call a few dealers and see what an extended warranty will run. The price will vary from dealer to dealer.
I would also not limit your search to just local cars. Flights can be cheap and the drive home is AWESOME!!!

with what I see some dealerships miss on CPO cars I would not be too concerned about it. So long as you check the car out and get an inspection you are fine. The difference in price just go with an aftermarket warranty as mentioned.

For non CPO cars you can always call Easy Care and price a warranty. They are one of the best aftermarket companies and you can get it directly from them and save $ from the dealer markup games.

I just put my 997.1 TT up for sale in here yesterday. It's Carrera White and has only 17.600 miles on it. It's a Convertible and I priced it GREAT.

Have a look at it in the Automobiles For Sale section.

BTW - you are gonna LOVE the 997 TT and I'm only selling as I will be moving back to Europe :-(

Thanks everyone. Yeah, my budget is strictly $90K or less for a car I really love (i.e.: a white one haha). It's going to be $80K or less for something else like black.

I'll have to check out Easy Care, thanks a lot!

Also, I'm seeing some for higher mileage (45K and up miles, with some at 60 and 72K miles). At which point should I avoid them? I know Porsche reliability is pretty good, but I don't know. It's out of my comfort zone.

Wow, thanks! But unfortunately with my budget, it's going to be tough to get to where you need to be, and where I want to be. I haven't even seen the price yet, but I'll check out the car now.

EDIT: beautiful car...but I really want a 6-speed! See what I mean about slim pickings? Haha

Sorry but the 6 speed stick I can't help you with :-(
But the price would have worked, huh :-)

Good luck with your search, your beauty will show up sooner or later.

Just do an auto to 6speed swap for me!

I PMed you about it too. Anyway, I haven't considered the auto/tip at all. How much "slower" is the car? I test drove an auto/tip C4S and I wasn't much of a fan after driving the 6-speed and the PDK versions. And umm yeah, great price haha.

Slower? - the car is FASTER with the tip and personally I would never go back to manual.
For specs you can check the official Porsche numbers.
I will PM you back tonight ;-)

0-60 and 1/4 in the Tip S is slightly faster then the 6 speed. It can stay at boost thru the shifts.

If you plan on tracking the car then the 6 speed is better in my opinion but a tuned tip is nasty on the dragstrip!!!

I've had two cpo cars - my 996 would have cost thousands in repairs that were covered, the 997 hasnt needed a thing - so far. For me it is a matter of convenience - I have a great relationship with my local dealer - they take care of me, I like going there and they're not the cheapest, but they do a great job and have phenomenal service (for example, get my tires changed winter/summer when I'm away on a trip - they pick the car up and return it).

I'll probably trade up this summer to an 09 or 10.

I just got mine in Sept. I also wanted a white one. It was a long search to get the color. When I was looking there were some cars in the 80s-90s with under 30k miles and with CPO. I got mine in FL and had it shipped to TX. At the time there were no 997TTs locally. My search took six months, but I got the one I wanted!

If you are planning on taking it on the track I'll agree that a 6speed will be the way to go. If we are talking a every day car / fun car then the tip is for sure what you would want.
