EVOMS GT2 Clutch Master and Slave Conversion
EVOMS GT2 Clutch Master and Slave Conversion
After my car was out of warranty ('07 911 Turbo) I started getting a hard pedal on start up. After doing some research I decided to give the guys at EVOMS a call and shortly there after their GT2 conversion kit was sitting at my front door. The kit is very well thought out and I was impressed with the way everything was thoughtfully packaged. After making a series of calls to several shops I decided to get Gaudin Porsche to install the kit as they have experience installing the kits. During the installation there was a slight hiccup as one of the wrong hose fittings shipped in the kit. I was really impressed with my service advisor, Paul Molina, and EVOMS when it came to the handling of this matter. Paul contacted EVOMS, EVOMS had the part to the dealership in a day and half, and my only involvement was receiving two calls (one to tell me that there was a wrong part in the kit and that the correct part was being shipped, and the other to let me know that the part had arrived).
So now the part that most people are going to want to know about, what's it like to use. I was going to wait for a week of driving to give my impression, but after a day of driving around I am already really impressed and pleased with my decision to get the kit installed. The pedal is definitely more firm, but in my opinion it is still perfect in a daily driven car (my car has over 46K miles). I have driven a '10 GT3 RS and it feels easier to depress than that (for those not fortunate enough to drive an RS, it is noticeably easier to depress than the clutch pedal of a turbo (whose accumulator is going out on it) on startup). The thing that was really a revelation to me was how the seeming on/off nature of the standard unit has now been replaced with a progressive pickup . The car is so much more drivable now (lightweight flywheel and on/off engagement aren't the best). I would venture to say that anyone getting their clutch done should get this part thrown on at the same time (whether or not the original part is failing).

great mod, the turbo oem setup is terrible, vague and weak feeling, factor in the constant failures of the accumulator etc. and GT2 conversion is a no brainer. This is next on my mod list.
For sure it's a nice kit and makes driving the turbo easier in my mind. The hydraulic assist in stock form makes it more like a switch than a real clutch and you just don't feel anything. Always liked the way the GT2/3 clutches feel so we try doing it as much as we can!
I agree that it makes the car easier to drive. Like sharkster said, the stock system feels ilke an on/off switch. With the new system installed the clutch take up is now progressive and much easier to modulate. Especially in my case with having a lightened flywheel. I don't even notice the extra pedal effort anymore.
EVOMS usually takes 8 hrs to install the kit. The dealer took 9, but there was some discrepancies with the instructions with the kit and a wrong part, so I thought that was fair.

RNS - If you have a lightened flywheel I say you have to do it. I have one and the car is just so much easier to drive! That said, I drive my car just about every day so I do get a lot of use out of it so the cost/benefit was never really a consideration. If not, most likely your current setup will end up having issues at some point so that is worth considering also (if you don't have an extended warranty). Good luck with your decision.
