Which ECU tuning?
Thanks! Yeah, support is really important to me. I know not much can go wrong with ECU flashes, but I still prefer to support the guy who maintains my car by getting products he sells as long as they are good quality products.
Actually, he sent my entire ECU to FVD in Germany for the flash so that everything is done right. I just like to be extra careful.
I understand that a lot of people are very focused on numbers - mega HP. However, when accelerating hard even with FVD flash, I already generate wheels pin even though I have upgraded suspension and Trofeos.
My concerns is really reliability, low-end torque and throttle response. So, I'm still really curious what everyone means when they claim that FVD is inferior to the other flashes.

Definitely worth a read.
Definitely worth a read.
So much for nothing going wrong with flashes eh
. That info pretty well coincides precisely with what i was personally told from certain un named users experiences with lets say; certain un named tunes (for the sake of politics)....and, that have since eaten them accordingly..and moved on to greener pastures so to speak
.
A few days ago i read the specific thread...It worth reading and i could add comments all day...As an outcome these results can arrive from wrong fuel for the specific tune...I did find this article like an advertisement though...
Every tuner recommend seems to have a solid track record (no pun intended
). Also consider GIAC, they are the tuning force behind the EXCELLENT champion motorsports cars that carry full factory type warranties, their efforts and have tuned at least as many cars as all other competitors combined. Yes they tend to be a bit conservative, but I'd rather have my engine 100K miles than pull a few car lengths on the rare freeway pull.... just my humble opinion
Some of the max effort cars cars by other tuners have turned up with blown engines. I don't recall that from a singe GIAC tuned engine in 6+ years on this site.
Now if you want a MAX effort engine, there are many qualified possibilities...

IKWYM re the advert side of things skand but i still can't overlook what's been said to me by actual users and I'm sure they are cognisant of the fuel they are using. Evidently with some things there is more to it and often the price can reflect that as well.....although, sometimes it doesn't (re some of the exhausts for e.g.). A strong user track record is often the best indicator particularly when a tune is run hard over distance and then found to go all pear shaped. Same with pushing a few hot laps really. Your APR for e.g. is evidently a well sorted tune going by your own consistent high speed repeated time runs without problems with drivability and power delivery....although yes i acknowledge fuel is important as well.
The one done on the engine dyno is non compairable and what Toby didn't mention is his aerospace coolers! So if he were running stock cores where would his iat's be?
That is a good read but the comparison is an off the shelf map which is safer than a map done on the rollers against a map done on an engine dyno!

Paul,it is very easy for anyone to post some data of two "bad" files and then post a good one and advertise it...You know very well that Kostas and I have tried almost every tuning file in the market for 997TT and we both stayed with APR...Imagine that i bought my car with the software...i didnt pay it so there is no need for me to stand behind the product i ve paid...My friend the times achieved with that file are unbeatable...especialy 200-300 time...that is 13,5 for manual and 14 for tip car...with 15sec the worse ever...I really wonder if any other tuner has achieved these times with just a flash and EP2...
Unfortunately, it's a little too complex for me to understand.

What does all this equate to for me on the street?
I just don't want my car to run worse than stock or for my engine to blow. Am I safe?

I'm really impressed with your 100-200km times they are amazing reah!
What is your 0-300km times.
Also do you have any datalogs upto these speeds?

Skand. - How many miles have you done on your APR TT. Have you changed s/plugs yet
Do you think the tune is easy on plugs.

APR or otherwise, is there such thing as a tune that doesn't chew plugs out faster than stock? If there is let me know. I'd love a tune that gives stock plug life. Haven't done mine yet but i bet they must be close. But on the times, i'd agree APR seems to be the best going by what the greek guys have produced...or are you questioning that?

I think Skand has proven what a quality tune APR is. In earlier APR posts there was a suggestion that it wasn't totally about excessive boost, so I was wondering if that would relate to better plug life, and what Skands observations have been
