Which ECU tuning?

My car is 07 997tt (tip), I want to chip my car and am considering the following:

(1) APR (541hp, 865Nm, $2,969)
(2) Softronic (615hp, 834Nm, $2,195)
(3) MCChip (525hp, 740 Nm, EUR 1,999)
(4) FVD (530hp, 720Nm, $2,002)

APR has highest gain in torque while Softronic has the edge in power gain (but I doubt whether 615hp is realistic with just ECU tune).

Anyone has experience with the above? My objective is faster low to medium speed (up to 180km/h) and less turbo lag. Any advice?

You should also check out Todd Knighton at Protomotive. He can provide a custom tune for you. Just tell him what you want. He also uses OBDII flashing where he sends you the tuned file and you upload to your ECU. He'll work with you to optimize your file via street tuning and datalogging.

I have same car as you and have the APR flash. I love it...super fast, tons of TQ and very reliable. There are lot's of threads on ecu flashes on the forum and I'm sure they are all very good so pick one and enjoy! Next upgrade will need to be suspension to better handle the power and to really transform your car.

If you want software that can guarantee you daily high speed autobahn runs without any problems then choose FVD but if you just want high power figures or specific maps for 60-130 then you have so many vendors to choose from!

Also most if not all software is tuned through the OBDII port and most companies will tune it to suit your needs these days.

The way I see it is the car came from Germany and all the inside info/secrets is kept there IMO, but this doesn't mean companies outside of Germany arn't capable too.

I think it's about you setting your own trend rather than following a trend

The APR info is the 91 octane tune. It is 580 on 93 and 610 on 100 octane.

You also have GIAC and ETG as well..

Good info. I did the suspension and brakes first. Clutch and tune is next.

well i can not say anything about all the tuners you talked about , but I have personal experience with softronic , i start running from stage 1 , and everything was great , so when i decied to upgrade my car for more power .. we exchanged many emails to fine tune my car , so search for a tuner can custom your tune to your needs ,

so my vote for softronic.

yousef

Oops sorry. I was talking with the local APR tuner about the tune WITH my full exhaust, to include 200 cell cats.

Before you pull the trigger on APR, just consider that if you ever want to go beyond just a tune and exhaust, you're gonna need another tuner. I would suggest finding a tuner who can cover the whole spectrum AND will provide you with good aftermarket service.

Some of the best software programmers out there work collaboratively with other companies. Don't just look at the tuning "label." Find out who does the tune.
