Soooooo, here's an update. The car has been in the shop for 2.5 weeks. This is because there is a header leak necessitating removal and sending back to Fabspeed (AZ to PA). Alex at Fabspeed got the headers yesterday and sent me a new pair out today and will arrive at EVOMS tomorrow. If that's not customer service I don't know what is. Thanks Alex!!!!

Albeit 3 years ago, let's hope EVOMS will get us back there...(this is a vid of the GT2 about 3 years ago with a EVOMSit 670 kit making 592 whp). Got to get the headers installed and ECU flashed (EVOMS and Fabspeed to the rescue). I'm excited!!!

It has the OEM titanium Muffler with Fabspeed 200 cell cats. There's really no change in sound.

Up until today (reading this very thread) I was convinced that the GT2 was just not the right car (for me). I have not driven the 997 GT2, but I have driven the 996 GT2 (along with 996-7Turbo's). I calculated the deviation experience from the 996turbo->GT2, and applied that to what I knew about the 997Turbo and estimated that I would not enjoy the 997GT2. The 996GT2 scared the crap out of me. I did not feel planted at all, much less confident for daily driving. It was definitely more car than I was capable of handling.

But now I'm hearing quite the opposite (based on the OP's testimony about his perception of the car when compared to the Turbo). I thoroughly enjoyed the 997Turbo. And to think that this car is better in any way is hard to comprehend.

Thanks for the great information here, and be sure to keep us updated on your experiences.

I'll hopefully pick up the GT2 tomorrow. Fabspeed got the headers to EVOMS overnight on Friday. A total of 4 weeks of problems in a car I've now made my first payment on (stereo out the car day 3 of ownership and still not back from being repaired...header cracked).

It may help to remember that an aftermarket header is not "the car". And headers on a GT2 are subjected to fairly extreme conditions, especially if the car is tuned. Once it's back you'll quickly forget about any inconvenience

I'm sure you're correct. Let me add that Fabspeed and EVOMS have been the stars in getting me back on the road - thanks goes out to both of them.

Thanks!

(Damn you - discussions with the wife have begun, officially. Plan is underway. It is a 5 year plan, though - much time to derail)

dr,
Like my partner tells me "absence makes the heart grow fonder", so you'll enjoy it even more than if you'd nit been away. Anyway, enough psycho-babble. Are you going to get your 2 dynoed? I'd love to see what ut produces, based on your mods (flash, BOV's, headers - did I miss anything?). Really curious as I have just the flash and BOV's which is supposed to be 600 chp. Would like to know the difference in output of yours and mine and if so, attributed to what? Thanks!

Sladep,
He mentioned that he also had 200 cell cats, that in itself is supposed to release an extra 30hp. That is probably what it is attributed to. He also mentioned that it did not change the sound. He is right when idling or reving the engine it sounds the same, but under load you can hear a considerable difference.
Someone offered to sell me their CMG exhaust for the GT2 that comes with 200 cell cats. If anyone is interested I will give you his info. He is selling them for about half of what they are new.
