2013 Nissan GT-R Black Edition vs. 2012 Porsche 911 Turbo S Comparison
Shame on you Scott, so a journalist says the GT-R is a better car and you act like it's the law now? I'd bet we could get 100 different opinions from 100 journalists. Better car? If it was better and since it's WAY WAY WAY cheaper, and draws SOOOOO much attention. Wouldn't it sell more? Or are we going to accuse everyone who buys a Porsche instead of a Nissan a badge *****?
Of course not. I agreed with Doc GTO (read post #6). No way could this comparison be anything but BS. It's only a Nissan for goodness sake. There's no possible way a group of automotive journalists could actually consider it a better car than the Turbo S.
Go Porsche!

Give me more neg points but someone needs to tell me why the GT-R crowd seems to sleep better putting out every chance they can to point out their cars are more tunable faster, better, more drivable. Dude I dont care. I dont know why these RAGS even get press.
Bring me back to my days when the ****ic and Neon SRT drivers would try to race every Bimmer they saw. Their worlds revolved around beating a car that has been put on a pedestal by someone other than the one driving it.
Put me in a GT-R, pick any model, yeah i say model because they release a new one every year, and a decent driver in a Miata and I lose. Also why are we comparing tuners business with what car is better? Maybe you are tuning a car because its not good enough for you and you need it better. Maybe the other guy isnt tuning his car because he is happy with it.
This little statement makes sense over time: You never try to tear down those below you.

Switzer custom spec cams, turbos, fuel system, cooling, exhaust, and intake. Built tranny with custom spec clutch. Stock heads, stock displacement, forged R&P. Switzer did all tuning via Cobb AcessPORT. 3 maps; 91 low-boost, 93 tapered boost, 93 full boost. I run map 3 100% of the time.
On the topic of drawing attention, It's not every day you catch a glimpse of a luxury car jacked up on roids, so naturally people are compelled to satisfy there own curiosity by doing a double-take. After all, there's nothing else on the road like it, not to mention the gtr has only been around a few years here in the U.S. I highly doubt you'll draw the same crowd in Tokyo.
Imo it's hard to believe the effects are long lasting. The attention one would receive driving a gtr reminds me of the kind of attention one would get as a Smart "for two" owner in its first year of production, just on another level. When we think about porsche, there's really no need to justify the pricetag because the difference is obvious. The attention is not extreme because it drew its crowd many decades ago. Although numbers say otherwise, its a different kind of animal. Just for reference, I am a fan of both cars.

I'll be on 20" street tires. Full weight (4050 with me in the car). 93 octane. No water injection. No nitrous. No burn out. Not even lowered tire pressure. Exactly how the car drives on the street every single day.
If you made 805rwhp, than that's what your car made. The parasitic losses you mention only come into the equation when you are figuring crank hp, i.e., you were making more power at the crank than a manual GTO did that also made 805 rwhp.
Also, when GT-R owners start getting really serious about drag racing, they will also run stalled TH400s or Powerglides. Both are much better than the stock GT-R tranny for the dragstrip.

My race weight was 3980. Full weight, full interior, A/C, 4 point bars, harness, ect. I did have to run slicks/skinnies since I'm just RWD but on the street I ran 18inch DRs all the time. I'm like you, I never like a stripped out race **** . . .
I'd just swap the tires and pull the Schroth harness around and hook in.

It was actually a couple of Porsche owners who gave your most recent negative rep points. I'm assuming it's because they find your posts embarrassing.
It was a Porsche owner who started this thread and a magazine who did the comparison. The only reason I posted was because someone stated that the comparison test was BS. Of course if the Porsche had won, the comparison test would have been assumed to be 100% legitimate.
All that having been said, I've owned 2 porsches. A Turbo and a GT2. Loved them both. But the truth is, the GT-R is honestly the better all-around car. If this makes you feel butt-hurt, there's nothing I can do about it.
I agree. Considering how much Porsche guys try and tear down the GT-R on this forum (which ironically, is what you are trying to do right now), your comment makes perfect sense. Positive rep for you for helping out my argument!

Quite familiar with drivetrain loss. Another goat with the same setup and a built T6060 6 speed made 927 rwhp. I was just letting other people know just in case they wonder how 800ish rwhp gets mid to high 9s and another one with 950+_rwhp runs a similar ET.

Appreciate it. Cars run in my blood!
Not question your work by any means. 95F here in florida, is a normal summer day, and I don't like to run down south at those temps, but sometimes I do. Usually I'm 2 seconds slower than on Winter. Track conditions change a lot.
When I first bought my GTR I was under the impression that I got the best all around car. I could live with the suspension on the street, even though is stiffer than the GT3, I could live with the car not being the fastest around the track, not a problem, but once things start not working after only a few easy laps, (had passenger for a charity event) this is when I didn't care about the car anymore. I'm not taking the credit out of the car, like I stated before, It is impressive the technology and all the electronics to make this car work the way it does. The same way the GTR didn't work, I believe every single car besides a Porsche had some kind of problems or couldn't take the abuse at Sebring and ended faling at some point (short after, or during).
Of course if not driven hard, anything can take it.
I see Z06s blazing by my sometimes, huge aero, huge tires, 600WHP, a beast, but the amount of work and $ spend to get to that point makes it less attractive to me, not to say that the feeling is the same as a truck.
Going back to the student, is natural that a modified car with higher HP would suffer a lot more under those circumstances than a ''stock'' car.
He sold the car short after, (or still for sale, don't know).
I'm yet to see a GTR take Sebring abuse lap after lap day after day at the same pace we run with the GT3's (stock GT3's)
Some of us are north of 100 hours on our engines of track use, and those things still running strong.
If it count for something the GTR lasted longer than the Gallardo, who made 3 laps, after stopped shifting ??
I was lucky enough to sell it 30 days after I bought it.

A guy down here has a fully gutted 2011 Turbo S track car, prepped by the guys at Flat6 motorworks. Every time I see him out at track days I ask him if his PDK has blown up yet -- he's got probably 40 days or more on it in the last year and he hasn't had any problems at all. To my knowledge he hasn't done anything more than change the engine oil.
Seems as though any time you have anything less than stellar to say about the GTR you're immediately called a hater. Funny... I have friends that own them and I'm going to be talking my company's chief marketing guy on Monday about sponsoring one of our customers who is running the One Lap races in none other than a GTR.

Oh yeah man I hate the GTR... Riiiiiiight. I dont care who made the comparison. Point is its what make YOU happy. None of us are going pro, at least in our current cars GTR or 991 TS.
Your GTR makes you happy. Thats all you need, and YOU is in general not you per say.
Not some stupid magazine to say the 11 911 TTS is the fastest attainable car for most.
Oh and BBYWU, I was referencing the HP changes every year. Seems waiting a year is the best way to up HP on a GTR purchase.
As my personal thoughts on a GTR I dont like the looks that much but that means ZERO as its YOUR choice. NOT mine

Oh and FYi i dont think its cool that the GTR guys just coming on here to chat and finding that post that seems like everyone is trying to knock on their car.
Someone should start a magazine that has pro drivers that are given a week with each car they are reviewing for the track and then another regular joe for the daily driver side.
