I've heard this over and over about the GTR.... makes avg drivers feel like heros. Also faster on the track than one would expect for the girth. Awesome car! I would buy one. That said, there must be something people like about the 911, or these cars would not sell. Folks are paying 70k more for them for reasons..
But hey...at least the Porsche is better on a dragstrip.

Your hands are filled with such an immense feeling of control that I'm hard-pressed to think of another car capable of annihilating a ribbon of asphalt in such a commanding way.

911 Turbos are getting too expensive IMO. How did a 120K car become 180K over a 5 year period?
Instead of competing with the GTR on price, Porsche is just pushing upmarket.

I started looking into 07-09 turbos as they are near my price range, but wanted to give the gtr a try to make sure I couldnt save myself $20k and get a newer model. It was only a 2010 gtr, but I was shocked at how less refined the car was compared to my bmw, let alone the 911. I competely understand why there's a price difference, not sure that much though.
why does gtr have the reputation of making driver a hero via technology? both have dct, awd, lc, esp, tc and on and on. seems they both throw the kitchen sink of driver aids into the mix but only nissan gets criticized for it. to be fair, if the gtr is like driving a video game so should the tts.
If I said that my wife would own said Nissan or Porsche.

I have both cars, a 2009 GT-r and 2011 Turbo S. They are both two totally different cars.
Both of my cars have been tuned and dynod, the GT-r power comes on much quicker than the Porsche and plateaus. The porsche in EVERY gear just keeps on pulling and makes a ton more torque than the GT-r.
My porsche does not "hook" up at all. Tires spin throughout first and part of second gear! The GT-r doesn't spin anymore because I put drag radials on the back. To me the Porsche is a refined, comfortable, very fast sports car. The GT-r is just raw, loud power.
For the "curb appeal" effect the GT-r is insane, people are nuts and chase this car down to see it constantly. The Turbo S flies under the radar because most people have no clue it's twice as much as the GT-r.
I'm not sure if I'm making sense at all but they are just two totally different cars.

Depends on how much she knows about cars? My wife prefers the p car, but whenever I see a gtr, point it out.
1) Inflation
2) Noblesse oblige

If you turn the nannies off the 911 requires more skill to drive.
Also, 911 can be had with manual (albeit not the S version).
