New Goodies @ SharkWerks: RSS Performance Engine Mounts Released
Hi folks just got done installing our first set of these recently and I must say they look as always top-notch. For those of you into reducing chassis-flex and ridding our cars of neoprene/mushy bushings these new RSS performance engine mounts might be the next logical step.
Shown installed:
Front beauty shots:
Back side:
With factory hydraulic engine mounts, the drivetrain will move independent of the chassis during acceleration, deceleration and cornering loads. This movement can upset the balance of the vehicle and create negative handling effects. These performance engine mounts minimize such effects by utilizing specialized polyurethane bushings which offer a firmer, more direct driving feel with optimum feedback. This upgrade will not adversely effect ride quality or cause knock sensor issues commonly associated with solid engine mounts.
As with all of the RSS gear it's made here locally in California. You can eat them up here: http://www.sharkwerks.com/products.php?pid=336

Very cool. Look forward to hearing driving impressions of before/after.
How involved is the installation process? Any recommendations on when to pair up this install with other scheduled maintenance work to save labor?

It's really not that bad. Just need to hold/support the engine from below while swapping them out. Most places do it in an hour or so....

Do these keep the engine in the stock position or do they lower them a bit? If they lower the engine, can you tell me by how much?
Also, are you making or planning on making a transmission mount also - with urethane?
Thanks.

There is a DIY that was created by mikymu - check out the DIY sticky on top of this forum. Pretty easy swap.

Actually that was always a nice trick with the older air-cooled cars eh? Not on these ones no there's no noticeable difference like that as far as lowering the position.

Roger that... shouldn't be too bad for next week if that works?
