i am thinking of installing an IPD plenum for my 997.2 turbo S. anyone with experience? just want to know if there is any real power & torque gains from this upgrade. according to IPD website, there isn't a need to change to bigger 82mm throttle body on 997.2 turbo because the intake manifolds are smaller compared to 997.1 turbo, hence won't be able to get much power gains
the IPD plenum costs $995. not a cheap mod. dunno if the $ is worth spending on just the plenum alone or i should save up for TPC or Champion intercooolers instead
current mods are: BMC replacement filter, EP exhaust & a softronic flash

go with the IPD it will only improve what you have and complement any future mods you may do.

 

I have the plenum on my 997 ('07) and it doesn't really add any HP or TQ but is a good complement for air flow (you've seen the OEM one, right?) for other mods. More air flow the better. However, if you are thinking of going of a kit that requires a new larger throttle body the IDP plenum usually doesn't fit (just a heads up). There are lots of "little" mods that really add up when you do more major mods (e.g. suspension). I agree with timccloud, the IDP plenum is a good choice.

I had IPD Plenum, GT3 TB & Ypipe on my 997.1TT and these parts made a big different on my 09TT. I'd do it all over again for my 997.2TT.

jmanE55. I read from ipd website that for 997.2 turbo, plenum doesn't come with gt3 throttle body. I'm not sure if the plenum alone yield any significAnt gains.

I heard it made good gain on 997.2t cars comparing with 997.1t

 

I made 15hp on top my 997.2TT after installing it . I really noticed the difference in mid range mid range i made a lot more power so to me worth every dollar i also did y pipe same time so not sure which made what !

 

LOL - I'm looking at exactly the same choice in updates. Going with the intercoolers - OEM GT2RS.

 

Isn't the oem gt2rs intercoolers same as those found on gen2 997 turbo?

 

um no they are not

 

There are a lot of threads on here with comparisons of the OEM.2 GT2RS intercoolers that blow aftermarket ones out of the water. One guy logged his car with one side using an aftermarket IC and the other a GT2RS IC, and the results were astounding how well the GT2RS performed.

 

Really? 15 HP off a plenum and y-pipe? Thats an amazing gain.
