Turbo Steering Wheel upgrade

So I currently have an OEM CF multifunction steering wheel in my turbo and I hate it, I hate the way the airbag is shaped, it's too thin and there is to much carbon which is sketchy for future DE's. I'm considering swapping to a 997.2 multifunction (if possible) or going over to Macarbon/DCT and upgrading my current set up. I've seen a few pics of DCT/macarbon work and it's impressive however I still think the triangular shaped airbag looks like ****. What what would you do? Please post some pics if you can. One note, I do want to retain the controls on the wheel.

im looking at a couple different 997.2's right now.. Some have the multifunction steering wheel and some have paddle shift.

I'm looking for some impressions or pros/cons and was considering starting a new thread. What do you guys think?

If you want to keep MF I would definitively go for the 997-2 steering wheel.

can you answer a bluetooth call without the MF wheel? Is shifting on a 997.2 MF steering wheel as satisfying?

997.2 steering wheel is best and cheapest option, tons on ebay and classifieds here, im pretty sure it is thicker and has flat bottom, feels much better, only expensive part is a new airbag since you cant reuse the old round one. best if you can find one with the y section painted and not volcano grey. my old steering wheel was the round airbag non thicker version.
ive used the raid/atiwe one on my old 997 which was also great but i prefer stock look now.

You'll need to check if you can use the buttons on a 997.2 wheel. I think they make a module to make them work, but am not sure. In addition to the module, you'll be forking out for new airbag. not a cheap conversion.
I was most annoyed by the thickness of the rim. I had mine rewrapped by Dalllas Custom Steering Wheel in Alcantara. Custom built up to my specs and very well done. I got the benefit of an OEM wheel with the controls, but the rim thickness more like a BMW M. Just a side note, had a "famous name" aftermarket wheel for a while and sold it. Without warning the wheel snapped on the next owner where the upper section met the side. I'm not sure that the aftermarket guys use OEM wheel rims to build them. Not to say that any are bad, but there is nothing like OEM.

Thanks for the responses so far good info. So considering that I want to retain the functions of the steering wheel it may be cheaper to go to one of the "famous name" aftermarket companies. RyeM3 PM sent! The other reason is obviously customization, as I have a few ideas and would like to get some input. A few notes, car is carerra white, all stiching is white along with white painted seatbacks and lots of oem carbon. I've attached two photos one of my wheel and one seen on a maccarbon thread. The issue with my wheel is as mentioned too much carbon and not thick enough. So the maccarbon wheel is pefect with the exception of changing the stitching and ring to white and of course it's for a lambo. Thoughts!

the triangular steering wheel is the ugliest thing I've ever seen. I replaced mine (997.1) for a 2012 all black model with new airbag. The interior now looks like it belongs to this century...

Joel, wheel looks awesome I looked up your "new wheel thread" Love the look however I'd still want to further customize a 2012 wheel similiar to the lambo wheel I showed in the post above. I'm going to chat with Suncoast and my dealer to see what I can do. I just don't think I'll ever get over the airbag design in my car , it just looks out of place.
