Oil change issue

Hi Guys ,
I recently did my oil change on 09 911 tt and only about 3 quarts of oil came out. I have read all the DIY on this subject so I followed the instructions, filled it back up with 3 quarts ( did not over filled the motor - thank god ) and the oil gage shows full bars after warm –up. What gives? Oh, I did drive the car before putting it on the stands so it was warmed up befor draining the oil and doing the full service (belt, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter and the oil change). Any suggestions? Thanks <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Sounds like you just drained the crankcase and forgot to drain the oil tank. It's pretty well explained and illustrated in the DIY - https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-m97-70-a.html

yes - you still haven't drained the oil tank - you have just drained the crankcase. Your pictures are from Rennlist - look at the first two pictures in that set of 4 and you can see what the drainplug for the oil tank looks like.

I'm sorry, but the pics attached to that DIY are not viewable, they have X over them. Any suggestions where one can enquire a diagram or a pic of the oil tank<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Get them from the same place you got the pictures you posted - they are from a post on Rennlist.

Caution..

when loosening the oil tank plug, make sure you have a wrench on the fitting just above it to apply counter-torque to avoid damage/ripping the weld out...
