which grey 997tt??

Hello,
I'm currenlty in a 2003 996tt and loved the experience, but I feel it's time to move into a 997tt. I'm set on getting a dark grey exterior but am trying to choose between meteor and slate grey. From the pictures, the meteor appears to have a metallic finish were slate looks a more like a flat finish. Any help in description or telling me which is the darker of the 2 would be greatly appreciated.
Steve

I have Meteor Gray. I think Slate is a little darker and has a very subtle green tint while meteor is more of a pure medium dark gray. Personally I'd have rather bought a Slate gray, but the difference isn't big enough to warrant waiting forever for the right car. Slate is much more rare than Meteor so if you have your heart set on it, good luck!

^^ Agree with your summary. They are close but side by side you can see the differences. There is plenty of metallic flakes in the slate but the main difference between the two is the different hues that slate can take on depending on the light.

If you search under my name i'm sure there are plenty of pics of my car, but the best thing would be to see them in person.

I favor GT Silver-not too dark and not too light-awesome! Can't go wrong with any grey or silver on a Turbo

I have a friend in the Porsche club with a slate grey fetish and therefore have compared the 2 greys several (and I mean several) times: slate has a brownish tint to it, whereas meteor does not.

For example if you *have* to have a chocolate color leather - whatever that option is called, and must have grey exterior, then the slate grey is a much better match.

While looking for a GT silver, I came across a Meteor Grey and loved it. The hunt was on for a Meteor grey until I saw a Slate grey. What a beautiful color that is.

Meteor has more shine in it, while Slate is a flatter color & shows more curves and also looks lot more richer.

I was dead set on Slate until I saw the Carrara White and that was it. I finally ended up buying a CW

I just picked up a 2012 TT in platinum silver and I absolutely love it. I really liked the meteor grey also until I saw the silver in person. Good luck and congrats on whatever you wind up getting!

Funny you mention the Carrera white because that is a very close 2nd choice for me. Thank you everyone for your opinions. It's really helping me out.

I went from Seal Gray (Carrera 2005) to Carrera white (2008 TT) to meteor gray (2011 TT). I still like white the best, but meteor gray is pretty sweet as well.

Originally wanted black, GT silver, or white but after I saw a meteor grey in person, I was hooked! It showed the lines very well!

Having owned a Slate Grey 996TT, a Basalt Black 997.1TT, and a Carrera White 997.2TT, I have to say the Slate was the richest and classiest color of all. Would have loved to have found a 997.1 in Slate but never could find one for sale. All in all if you have any choice, you really cant go wrong with any of the Pcar Greys or Silvers! Good luck
