Talking Ep2 vs tubi race

hi everyone new to the forum. I have been lurking around for almost a year. It is now time to start doing some mods on my 08 997tt. Starting with the exhaust. I am looking for a higher pitched sound like a exotic or gt3 sound and have a nice rumble at idle. I also don't want it to drone on the highway so loud I can't use blue tooth or have it drive me nuts a little is fine. I also dont want it to sound like a civic with a loud pipe. I know the turbo will not sound like either just want to change from the factory vacuum cleaner sound. I have read every post I could find on exhaust upgrades. I live in Edmonton there are not a lot of turbos around so listening to one is tough.Sso I need to rely on other people's experience. I have seen some of you have tubi race how does it sound at highway speed in a coupe. I know the ep2 won't drone as bad but I think the tubi has a higher tone up in the rpm range. What are your guys thoughts. Thanks for the help and sorry for the long read.

While there are likely several people from Edmonton on this site, I know of at least one other we both have 997.1 TT and we both have EP1. I got mine after listening to one and found the compromise between complete lack of drone, and wonderful sound, perfect.

There is a group of us, with all sorts of different cars, that meet for coffee and cars once the weather clears up. At least once a month and sometimes twice, it is held at Auto Obsessed.

If you feel like a listen, let me know and we can certainly set something up. If you have decided on EP2 already, then listening to EP1 isn't going to help.

Lucky you have locals near you!

I dont have personal experience with the mentioned exhausts, but my Techart exhaust produces a rather mild drone sound on the highway between 2.5-3k RPM. BUT it is very tolerable.

Goodluck

Thanks for the quick reply. I would like to listen to your car maybe the EP 1 is loud enough. We will have to wait a for a bit as im sure there is still snow on the ground. I will be back home in the end of march. Maybe the end of April will work for you

Looks like you might have two to listen to for the price of one! Yes, there most certainly is still snow on the ground. The end of April or early May (weather dependent) will work.

Just send me a PM, or post on this thread (or another) when you are back and would like to make an arrangement.

I have heard from others that Tubi has considerable drone, something EP is known not to have.

Do you belong to the PCA (Polar Region) in Edmonton? If you don't you might want to consider it, as there are quite a few good activities, including autocross and organized drives.

ep2

I have had 3 exhaust on my 997.1 and also have the AWE 750 package. The ep2 exhaust is the best sounding and performing exhaust I have ever heard on a turbo. Besides the great exhaust note, My dynoed RWHP went from 569 to 594 by simply changing from a very mild sounding Miltek exhaust to the europipe. Also go with the ep2. No drone whatsoever and much better sounding than my friend's Tubi. No brainer here.

hi cobbcounty, I also have the europipe stage 1 with AWE 650 kit. How do you like the 750 kit and any 60-130 times or 1/4 mile times and traps? Sorry to op for going off track but back to the question, europipe is best sound and guaranteed performance increase!!
