997.2 TT-S 1/4 mile record?

So this week we decided to take our camo 997.2 TT-S to the track a few times just for kicks to see what kind of 1/4 mile times we could run. Lately we've been hearing a lot of "GTR's can run 9's on stock turbos...blah blah blah". So that's now our goal. 9's on stock turbos....and we're getting close.

On Monday we got a best time of 10.46 at 130mph. But on Wednesday night we went back with our GIAC race program installed and a tank of VP race fuel. Best time on Wednesday was a 10.346 at 132mph. I think this may be a .2 Turbo record?

For the record, the car has only the following mods installed. It also has a full interior, and was running on regular old Pilot Sport II's. Launch control was used, with PSM off.
  • Tubi Race Exhaust
  • Werks1 Airbox and Y-Pipe
  • IPD Plenum
  • Champion Intercoolers
  • STOCK manifolds and STOCK turbos
Here's the video and some time slips. Interesting to note is that we made 15 passes that night..lol (the track was empty). At one point we even ran 10.389 and 10.381 within 5 minutes of each other. That's our intercoolers doing some work!!

i know of a GTR that went 9.70s on stock turbos but with MTs on all 4s, gutted interior, and CF driver's seat nice runs btw 10.30s street car is a hell of a ride. any room for a good 60' ?

Nice work Tom, but how do you plan on shaving off the next 4 tenths of a second? Isn't the DFI fuel pump/PDK clutch still the ultimate bottleneck on those cars? I know you were working on it a long while ago, but seems you've given up or stalled. GTR seems to be able to take a lot more power on the stock motor/trans vs a .2 turbo?

Definitely the 1.61 can improve. Maybe with tires? Just if the 1.61 becomes 1.51, then we are talking 10.2s... As an experiment a lighter car could go into the very high 9s....

Amazing times for such little modifications!!!

The Car sounds like a Beast! I would have liked it much better if you ran against a GTR

Tom -- for the Monday run, did you have the "off the shelf" GIAC pump gas tune?

Dropping a 10th in the 60 ft drops ET BY 2/10ths so they would be 10.10s.

I think if they were able to at least put on drag radials on the rear it would reduce spin and 60ft. New style Mickeys aired down would bite hard from a dig!

Impressive. A good tire, some weight reduction, and more boost would make things interesting.

Well a few days before we pulled a 1.53 60' but the best time was 10.4. With the race gas and a little more power, the Michelins couldn't really hook up too well.

The fuel pump / PDK are still certainly still limitations...but just a little less then they used to be. We never really quite gave up on it, we just sidelined the project in order to finish up a few other big things we were working on. But before that we did make a few new advancements that have let us push beyond where we once were. PDK is the future of Porsche sports cars, whether we like it or not, so we WILL finish the PDK upgrade....

There were no GTR's at the track that night, at least not lined up when we were. We were kind of hoping there would be..lol

Yes, on Monday it was an off-the-shelf GIAC tune.

Thanks earl. In all fairness though, it was a decent temperature that night (at least for Florida). It was probably low-to-mid 70's....which is cool for us.
