No, stockers are decent but not that stout. Rockwell test ~25, like butter the guy said.

I'll be using these beauties...

Thanks Asher. It's been a while but I've been busy. It will be fun to fire it up again with the new (mostly) bolt-ons.

Just got my car back from a 3.8L build a few weeks ago (bent rod from a shattered rod bearing). She's back in the shop right now for a 1000 mile check up and final tune. Good luck with everything! The extra torque down low is pretty nice.

Nice! Good to hear about the increased torque down low and fun factor. What turbos are you running? Are you using stock throttle body?

Why did your rod bearing shatter?

No obvious reason why the bearing went. I was in the process of modding to 700 crank hp and it just went. Who knows these things?

We did a few things (a few already on the car from the previous EVT580 kit):

2007 997 Turbo
• 3.8L Piston/Cylinder Kit
• Evoms 10mm Head Stud Kit
• Carillo Rods
• New oil squirters
• New main Bearings
• Level 1 Tech Head gasket set
• Rod Bearing set
• Intake/Exhaust guide
• New Oil Pump
• Machined cylinder heads
• Shuffle pin crank cases
• Boat Tail Mains
• Level 1 Tech welded water lines
• Crankshaft – Cross drill center main/grind rod journals/knife edge/heat treat
• 82mm IPD plenum kit/GT3 Throttle body
• BMC air filter
• Torque solution Motor Mount
• Torque solution Transmission Mount
• Fabspeed 70mm X-pipe/Cats/Tips
• Fabspeed Headers
• Evoms Intercoolers/Silicone Hoses
• Evoms Turbo Inlet Pipes
• Evoms pulley
• Evoms BRVs
• Evoms VTG Turbos
• Evoms EVT700 tune file (to be refined for my mods)

This is essentially a brand spankin' new engine. I should get it back next Friday with, hopefully, at least 600awhp. We will see.

BTW, all of this work was done by Alex over at Max RPM Motorsports. He's a board sponsor (Level 1 Tech). Awesome crew over there in Bremerton, WA.

Nice set of upgrades! Sounds like you may have too much motor for your VTGs but that could be your next mod.

Indeed. My thought process was 'Hey, motor is out. Lets not pay for that labor twice...'

Yeah, really guys. If your coolant pipes leak you will have to pull the motor. I think it's listed as a 12 hour job. As a measure of further prevention, I picked up a set these stainless steel beauties from Sharkster to replace the stock plastics ones.

To replace these:
