Question about my tune(Softronic)

UPDATE on page 2.

Well, I have a Softronic tune on my TT and it's a blast to drive. But I have a little issue with the tune. Occasionally(2~3 times out of 10) it doesn't make full boost(18psi with sport mode on) and spool much slower. When it happens, car makes only 10~11psi and feels just like stock. I doubt it's a mechanical issue because most of time car runs perfect. This happens especially when sport mode on and 2nd gear. Does anyone have this problem with the Softronic tune? Any thoughts? Hope Scott or Dan chime in.

Make sure you don't have a boost hose leaking.

Agree - the principle of Occam's Razor (simpler explanations are, other things being equal, generally better than more complex ones).

My initial thought was boost leaking but I don't think that is the case because when I drive stock tune, it never happens. To clarify, most of time car runs perfect with 18psi boost but when it happens car still makes stock boost about 10 psi or so very consistently.

I would say bleed off from bad BRV, boost leak or loose boost hose fitting, bad o-ring on boost hose. What other parts did you put on at the same time? I will say, that if you drive all the time in sport mode, the car will get slower as the EGT sensors in the turbo will be getting super hot and the car will pull timing. Do your same driving tests in regular mode and see if it occurs again.

Shoot me a call if you want and we can try to figure out what the issue might be.

valex is infamous around these parts
Ironically after installing a softronic tune just this week (monday) I have the exact same issue. Thought it may be my mind, but I can confirm the exact same thing. Usually pulls fine, occasionally it won't at all (it usually happens for an entire drive cycle, not just a single acceleration) I shut the car down, and next time I go (in sport mode) it pulls fine again. This makes me think less leak and more software pulling timing. The car wasn't hot either time, had run for ~5 minutes.

I did nothing else to the car at the time of the flash. I am planning on doing the div valves very soon, however.

Interesting. I usually turn sport mode on when I drive, does the higher EGT only apply to tuned cars? My car is tuned, but I feel like the car is pretty consistent even if I'm in sport mode.

No that applys to stock as well. You can definitely see it data wise, maybe not butt wise.

As far as the boost issue, this has never been a problem in the past. With a stock exhaust, you wont make as much boost anyways. The ECU is set to run X amount of pressure, but with the stock exhaust "cork" it will not reach that level. However that would have nothing to do with you turning your car completely off to "fix it". Try loading your original file back to the car and see if you have the same problem. You can also do a datalog for us to check the file. Remember that with increased HP/TQ new mechanicals can arise.

Why would stock egt's be higher in sport mode when all that happens is a change in throttle response. AFAIK, the OEM ECU "tune" hasn't changed because of sport mode.

On a Turbo? You get more boost as well.

Mine usually does it in a single acceleration. When I pulled again right after it happened without shutting off, car ran just fine with full boost. I haven't tested much with non sport mode. Will try non sport mode next couple of days and see if same thing happens.

Did some research with VALEX VIN and there are open recalls related to the EGT sensor on models through 2009. This could be related. I can check SWC VIN if you can PM it to me.
