Opinions! 997.1TT Project.

Hello,

Lately I've been talking to a few friends and I've had an idea in my mind the past week.

I was initially interested in the new 991 Turbo S, but I figured I'd wait some time before looking into it.

Now, this is the idea I have, and I'd like to know what you guys think.

Hell Yes? Good Idea? Bad Idea? TERRIBLE? Hell no?

I'm thinking of buying a 2007-2008 997.1 Turbo, and do the following;

Full OEM GT2 RS Body Conversion
OEM Carbon bucket seats
Complete body paint in Lamborghini Green
Carbon Roof, Hood, and side vents
Full alcantara interior with green stitching
Gloss black wheels

As for engine modifications, not sure what I'm getting yet.

And it would be a MANUAL 6 Speed .

Edit: My reason; I love the look of a GT2 RS, and I know the 997.1 Is a mod monster, and also, probabilities of another Porsche coming out manual are slim?

Opinions?

With all the money you're looking into spending on the turbo/mods I feel you'd be better off buying a 2008 GT2.

I should have mentioned I can't buy a used car above 100,000$.

I would buy the car in USA and have it all modified there over the next year and a half.

After that I would export the car to Colombia. Due to certain rules here you cannot bring in a USED car that costs more than 100,000$. So I can't bring a GT2 or GT2 RS .

That is a serious boat load of cash. I like the direction you are going and would love to follow along w the build. If the project is going to be taken on in Texas hit me up and Ill shoot you in the right direction.

It's still only an idea.

I know it requires a lot of money, but my plan is to do it step by step and slowly. It's not something I expect to be done in a couple of months. Simply because I don't have the cash to buy everything at once.

What I want to point out and that I also require opinions on, is the fact that the 997.1 seems to be the best car to mod, apart from body and looks, I plan to make this a 800-1000 HP car.

Pretty much, is it a good idea to get a 997.1 right now ?

Do it... Anyway a 997 TT 2007 in Colombia cost about $160,000...

That's correct.

A 2007 Turbo over here is around that.

I can bring the car from the US if I buy it for LESS than 100,000$. Mods do not effect this at all, if the bill shows less than 100,000$, then it's no problem.

Thank you for the opinion!

Now if I put it a different way, apart from all the body mods, if I was planning on buying a 997.1 TT for big HP purposes, would it be worth it?

The way I see it,the new 991 Turbo S will be the same as the current Turbo S, with PDK limitations. It seems the 997.1 TT is the mod monster of the Porsches.

Burning Cash
Why not buy a Gt2 and just modify the paperwork.
Likely much cheaper and you get the real thing.
