Traction Control "turn off"

I was playing with traction control turn off and feel that

1) PSM off
2) sport mode on
3) E-brake one click

Make the car spin all tires.

Without the e-brake on the car wont perform the same. I can literally spin 4 wheels very easily with the "1-click" e-brake.

Maybe I have lost my mind.?

Can anyone contribute to this or add to it?

Rumour has it, that pulling the e brake one click makes it two wheel drive, so maybe what is really happening is that the centre diff is pushing most of the power to the rear, resulting in wheel spin. I doubt that the front wheels would be spinning much at all.

Exactly my thoughts. 4 wheel spin is for the 900HP group. Would like too know for sure on this though. I wouldn't think that it would be that easy to disengage the front tranny. I could be wrong though on this car.

I believe the center diff is electronically controlled hydraulic multiplate, so it could push most of the power to the rear, but not all.

This e-brake silliness arose years ago in the 996tt, and its hydraulic box. Wondrous things were supposed to happen. None did. Well, except many P service advisers had more amusing stories to tell.

So apparently, something is going on with the PDK dual clutch system in the newly released 08 Carrera 4. http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/07/p...-in-carrera-4/

Wonder if the turbo would use the same drivetrain?

Jako, share the wealth if you know something. Would love to know.

Are you guys telling me or believe that by pulling on the E-brake our Turbos become a two wheel drive? What am I missing here?

I don't buy the disengagement part of the front axle, from my experience but I'm not afraid to be wrong also.

But, I would like to understand how the Traction control system would react to a possible "Rear wheel lock" with the e brake on. Especially in an all wheel drive car.

Has anyone ever wondered why the 911 doesn't have a constant audible alarm on the e brake when engaged while moving? My Cayenne does.

08 didn't have PDK.

The link has 2008 but they are talking about a 2009, I think that is irrelevant to his point though.

Thanks Jeff. I've got manual. Could figure out how pulling the e-brake disengaged the axle

the rear wheels drive the front wheels.
there is no center diff. our cars arent real awd cars, like an audi or subaru.

if the rear wheels are locked, the front wheels will not be able to move.
